15th of December, PONYO STORY NEWS, FIRST RELEASE OF OTSUKA’S &
MIYAZAKI’S PRE-GHIBLI “TENGURI, THE BOY OF THE PLAINS”: Yesterday
night NTV’s News Zero brought us news on Miyazaki’s latest, Gake no
ue no Ponyo. In it Studio Ghibli president and producer Suzuki Toshio
told about Ponyo’s storyline. Also there's news on a never before
released pre-Ghibli by Otsuka Yasuo, Miyazaki Hayao and Kondo
Yoshifumi...
Below was a press conference on Ponyo and a few questions were asked on the new production.
There is also a music CD available as well on sale already.
Here, Miyazaki hard at work in sketching and drawing out Ponyo and script.

This photo I got from the Web was obviously taken from the Ghibli Museum, but it looks so real! It is a very big Robot in real life.

A cel is a slide of the actual animation, these are then typically bought and sold at fairly high prices, some of them can sell in the thousands if they are real original cels of master animation pieces and popular scenes. I’m guessing this one can be had as an original for a few thousand hong kong. The cel is the work that is then used to overlay, at 24-30 frames per second, that means you get 30 very similar looking frames per second shot. You can overlay various Cels on top of each other to create background, scenery and frontend…so this Cel is infact transparent.

These are not images from the actual Movie, so either cel art or other art that I found on the internet to share with everyone!

This last image is actually very interesting, it wasn’t in the Movie but looked like it could have been….

Picked this one up at Deviant Art, it’s Porco, still in Pig form going for a go at being a car racer (as supposed to a pilot). Nice idea, neat concept and beautifully designed.

Just browsing the web, and thought of sharing them, as fans of Miyazaki and his works, this one is of Laputa, the castle in the sky.

Following their diary, so this is were the masters of anime work in….looks more like an editorial shop than an art studio, but you can see the various colors and images hanging out in the top, but inside it’s quite like a normal office, except more cool pictures hanging about.

In that sense it is your typical Japanese cubicle working farm…infact look at those chairs! How can you sit on those for a whole day? Judging from the lamps they work very long and late hours…

At least on the outside the Studio has a somewhat romantic feel…although all that green is not supposed to be good for the building facade. This is the shop that brings you all the anime magic, hard to believe and truly masters of illusion.
