I’m as surprised as the next person, but Sanrio owns a company called Kokoro Dreams (Kokoro means heart in Japanese) and having heard that I was on the lookout for something cute…instead I discovered an animatronics company that does Actroid Robots, you know, like robots except they look human, very close to human form and somewhat frightening! She won’t ever age for one!

I don’t really know what kind of business Sanrio has in this industry….and I only found out about this by accident but if this interests you, you can find out more at their website.

A variety of mystery is involved, the discussions lists are abuzz on some kind of “deal” that Ghibli and Disney are doing that goes beyond the Buena Vista distribution….

Ghibli is the Studio behind Spirited Away, Tototo and Kiki and has always made blockbuster anime movies, Disney distributes them and given Disney’s acquisition of Pixar, is this something along those lines?

According to the News the Bureau declined the application and the protesters have rallied up the petition to a point where it is now almost 3,000 petitions to have the Bible rated for Violence.

I hope they don’t succeed, while I agree that there is a degree of hypocrisy involved when people decide to censor one subject vs. another but we should strive towards as little censorship as possible. Violence is present in many important books of our past and to shelter it is to foster ignorance and more suffering in the end.

It’s about time that this myth be corrected, the Vibrator is infact a shoulder massager and not intended to be what people think it was meant to be used.

A chinese language website has launched attacking the Bible saying that its contents are indecent because it references incest, rape, cannibalism, violence and other unhappy matters.

Some of the quotes: “Passages in the Bible not only advocate incest, but they also aim to rationalise incest and present it as normal”

The goal is to get the TV and Entertainment Licensing Authority to reclassify the Bible as indecent, thereby reducing it’s distribution to under 18’s of course and so far 208 complaints have been received in support of this claim. Should they succeed in giving the Bible a rating it will be treated in the same category as pornography and extreme bloody violence.

I don’t have a particular commentary on this except that religion has had a history of being offensive to some and has often resulted in extreme violence and it is always a hot and controversial topic.

 I’m testing Microsoft Virtual Earth, it’s not bad…it moves much faster than Google Earth I find…pretty cool, the location is Hong Kong University, although there is no red dot there.

Talk about blatant…a blog post discusses the consequences of this type of open piracy. Although they appear to have taken some steps to take some of the materials down, it will continue for as long as they can get away with it.

I don’t agree with the argument that because you cannot afford it you wouldn’t buy it anyway, it’s a common defense for people profiting from piracy but this is very different, it’s Government Piracy! If the Government doesn’t get it, how can we educate the people? Lead by example….hello? Show the world that China is an advanced society respecting copyright and trademark….hello? HELLO? ANYBODY THINKING OUT THERE? A greedy entrepeneur….or opportunist businessman is what I expect to see but our own Government??

This isn’t about rich pharma companies trying to rip off poor people here who need medical aid and therefore need to get access, this is about the Government stealing for the pure purpose of generating a handsome profit at someone else’s expense. Today it may be “foreigners”, tomorrow it will be our own people.
