AnĀ interesting postĀ about why the .xxx domain was rejected. A big point is maked that ICANN responded to political pressure and letters from various governments to stop XXX from a content perspective.

To me this sounds like government is shooting itself in the foot. If it truly desired to control pornographic distribution on the internet, then it would benefit from having a central access point (in this case .xxx domains) so you can protect those who may be minors. It’s almost certain that .xxx domains will only be used by adult industries, it would be almost like a default adult rating by virtue of the domain name. If this was a key argument then it is wrong, adult or not, it is censorship and it supposedly came from “free” countries like Australia!
