It’s really bad to travel under the rain. In this trip, it has been raining for one and a half day so I just slept in the afternoon then visited Okashi Goten and Okinawa Ryukyu Village the next day.

Okashi Goten is actually famous for okashi (a type of desert), and it uses only the finest red sweet potato (to make “red sweet potato Taryto) that can be found in Okinawa. It also sells the popular Chinsuko (another type of desert). Later on, I found that it has a shop in the International Street in Hana that offers more products.

It has a cafe on the first floor – you may enjoy the sea view while eating desserts at the same time. Unfortunately we were too early to arrive as the shop is not open yet!

Around the Manza Beach Hotel & Resort, there are some places for tourists to visit.  One of them is Manzamō and I went there by taxi (it costs around 570 YEN only!).

Manzamō means “a field where thousands of people can sit on.”  It actually has lots of plants and rocks -  it really looks great!

The big field

I actually just stayed in the hotel and enjoyed its facilities and food for a few days. There are three restaurants in the hotel that provided breakfast buffets.  I stayed in the hotel for three nights and tried them all. One of them provided Japanese cuisine and the other two provided Western food.

This is the Japanese one - half-buffet (main course is set).  Actually I don’t really like Japanese breakfast!

Recently, quite a lot of Hong Kong people go overseas to have their wedding.  Okinawa is one of the most popular places. There are two chapels near the Manza Beach Hotel Resort.

This one faces the said resort and I have seen this one on television.

I simply walked around the hotel on day 2, 3 and 4. My schedule wasn’t tight, so I just enjoyed touring it as much as I can (I even took a nap during one afternoon).

This beach looks nice. I heard that a famous Hong Kong film, Okinawa Rendezvous, was shot here.

Actually I am not so happy with my plan for Okinawa, because I didn’t do a lot of research (I didn’t buy a guide book, I simply used online resources)  I missed Zanpamisaki because of this!

The only thing I am happy with is the hotel I stayed at for three nights. It is the ANA Hotel - Manza Beach Hotel & Resort. (http://www.anamanza.co.jp/)

In the beginning of 2008, I’ve been planning to travel to a place where I can enjoy beach and sunshine - options include Koh Samui, Saba and Pulau Langkawi. Because of my work and health, I haven’t made a visit up until now.

I’ve done lots of research over the Internet. They are all nice places to go to, so it will be tough to make a decision.  After hours of research,  I found that Okinawa is not a bad place to stay! I’ve been in Japan on 2005 and 2007 and I love this country a lot!  I’ve chosen a hotel in Okinawa and it is much more expensive than those I usually choose (I usually choose those below 10,000 per night - double).

I didn’t plan a tight schedule - I want to relax

In the past, Hong Kong people have to stop at Taiwan, in order to go to Okinawa. But now, we have Hong Kong Express to go directly to Okinawa (it is not a very good airlines though).

October 4, 2008 - we arrived in Okinawa at 8p.m., so we couldn’t do much on day one. People all took photos around when we were taking the shuttle bus, but I didn’t. I am it regretting now…

The international airport of Okinawa is much smaller than its domestic one!

We stayed in Toyoko Inn at the first night, and the next day, we went into a resort hotel. There are four Toyoko Inn in Okinawa but we chose the one closest to the Naha bus stop.

Here are some photos:

Toyoko Inn

The main transport in Naha is this single-track tram, you can buy 1, 2, or 3 day(s) pass.

I’d like to share my experience about accommodation in Japan. I tried some that is no more than 10,000Yen/per night (double). The hotels actually don’t have high ratings and without a great view in rooms, but I think they are comfortable enough.

In 2005, I did quite a lot of research and found the popular Toyoko Inn – My first choice in Japan now. You can find Toyoko Inn all over Japan, and the rooms look more or less the same. A lot of Hong Kong people like to stay in Toyoko Inn, but the only drawback is the time of check in/out. It provides non-smoking room, and you can book a room online at its website (Chinese/English).

I’ve stayed in these Toyoko Inn:

- Sapporo - near Sapporo JR Station.

- Hakodate - this one is a bit old.

- Tokyo - there are two in Ikebukuro.

- Okinawa - near Naha Station.

Let’s see some photos now! This one is the one located at Tokyo. It looks good.

The lobbies provide free Internet service. Free breakfast is also provided every morning.

This is the room, yet I didn’t take a photo of the bathroom.
