This blog entry will have a different twist as I introduce to you a little friend I met during my travels. This friend of mine is not a player nor is it a character.. it is a monster. Now I know what you’re thinking, “how does a player make friends with a monster?” They attack you on sight, don’t speak to you when you right click and above all, look the same as the rest of their kind. Allow me to prove you wrong as you read the tale of..

One sunny afternoon in East Florapolis Valley, I was minding my own business as I picked at a Mulberry Tree for some yummy Mulberries. I noticed a lot of cute Squeets bouncing around the area and I tried to observe them quietly. I noticed one of them appeared to be a little frustrated.

I watched him for a few more minutes until I realized the reason for his frustration. He was trying to bounce higher to reach the Mulberries and pick some for himself. The other Squeets were ignoring him and continued bouncing on their path.

I decided to help the poor Squeet. I felt selfish for gathering a bunch of Mulberries for myself and leaving none for the hungry little guy. I walked closer to him, and to my surprise he didn’t try to attack me. All he did was sigh and ask me what I want from him.

“Hello adventurer.. what do you want? A pet card? My comfort? Take it all! It doesn’t matter anyway.” I frowned and asked him, “Why are you so upset Mr. Squeet? Please, let me help you.” He thought about this for a moment and replied, “I see adventurers like you pass by this map time and time again just gathering the Mulberries with little effort.  I cannot figure out how to gather some for myself and I am very hungry.”

I smiled and led the Squeet to the closest Mulberry Tree and taught him how to right-click the tree. It took him a while, but eventually he figured out the controls and before you know it, he had picked his first Mulberry! After he heartily ate it, he turned to me with tears in his little eyes and said, “Adventurer.. I don’t know how to thank you! You were the first to stop and talk to me and even helped me get some food. I think- no, I know I can trust you now.”

I wondered what he meant by that and suddenly, a pet card appeared in my inventory. “Oh thank you Mr. Squeet! I will take good care of your card.” The Squeet smiled and said, “This is the first card I have passed on to an adventurer in many years. I trust that you’ll give this pet Squeet a good name and take care of him. Please stop by now and then when you need something else for your adventures.” I nodded and took out my new pet. I decided to name him..

I joined HKO SEA looking forward to all of the adventures I would have. I was getting ahead of myself as I peered at the character creation screen. Thinking of a name can be difficult since this is what everyone will call me.. it will be their first impression of who I am so it has to really suit me! What did I come up with?

Okay, so maybe it isn’t exactly specific but it still tells a story about me! I’m the type of person to greet everyone that I see, a rather friendly individual. Besides, on “Hello” Kitty Online, I feel that the name makes sense. Now whenever someone wants to talk to me or say something, they’ll have to say “Hi” too.

The dream begins in the Dream Room Tutorials where I got the opportunity to say “Hi!” for the first time:

Dear Daniel told me that I am fast! I’m sure he says the same thing to everyone, but a girl cant help but enjoy a good compliment now and then. I wanted to stick around and talk to him some more, but the Tutorial advised that I was ready to move on. Parting is such sweet sorrow.

The benefit of moving on means more meetings and conversations to be had. I continued the tutorial and met a cute little bunny that seems just as inclined to say “hi” as I am!

Just as I was getting to know her and the game,  I was gifted with some pretty blue pants. I was then faced with a tough decision.. either stay with my new friend or move along and try on my pants. I reluctantly bid My Melody a farewell on moved on to the next room. Perhaps someday we will meet again and share more conversations.

I tearfully tried on my new pants in the next room and ran into another character. He seems rather shy as he had nothing to say to me, but I saw through this and offered him a friendly “Hi!” too. He probably gets pretty lonely in here.

I feel pretty good about myself now, as I’m learning and spreading some pixelated happiness along the way! I excitedly moved along to the next room.I wanted to talk to Badtz-Maru but I was forced to do some work first. I guess all play and no work isn’t very realistic.

After some right-clicks later:

Yay! Another character that enjoys to greet. He did ask me to do some more work, but how can I deny such a friendly little penguin? Besides, he offered a very tempting reward for my efforts. Cookies! What is better than a bunch of cookies to enjoy and share with your new friends? I’ll tell you what isn’t better.. getting attacked!

It seems that the Starbeam was hungry and wanted a cookie too.. I tried to say “Hi!” to appease it but it didn’t work! I had to regrettably stun him instead.. I hope he will not try to attack every new adventurer for their precious cookies.

After eating a cookie to replenish my energy, I learned that this is the last Dream Room Tutorial I will be experiencing. My dream continues in the Dream Carnival!
