The San Diego Comic Convention is near and toy companies are slowly unveiling their exclusive toys for the event. Some companies and artists though are still hiding their secret toy, awaiting the right moment to show their treasures to the public.

Renowned artist, Simone Legno (Tokidoki) has actually a lot in store for SDCC 2008 and has already shown the public his masterpieces. Here are his line-up:

Tokidoki Kaniza (ToyQube)

There will be 1,000 pieces of the Tokidoki Kaniza being released at SDCC 2008 from ToyQube, pricing will be revealed at a later date.

Tokidoki Dunny (Kidrobot)

Tokidoki cooks up this pizza-adoring Dunny with a Moofia face and ADIOS’s Italians alter ego on the back. Tokidoki’s premier 8-inch for Kidrobot retails for US$50.

Tokidoki Geisha (ToyTokyo)

Knuckle Bear inventor Touma throws down 12 monstrous misfits for Evil Skaters, his first Kidrobot line-up. These 3-inchers ditched their boards for horned heads, big-fists, a ferocious sidekick and 2 hot chases.

San Francisco-based Max Toy Company has collaborated with Portland artist Martin Ontiveros on this great new interpretation of BOOSKA, one of the most iconic and classic kaiju from the golden age of Japanese television. Officially licensed by Tsuburaya Productions and sculpted by Kiyoka Ikeda of Tokyo-based new kaiju toy company Gargamel.

Japanese punks, Mad Barbarians, put a new face on road rage with Shake-A-Tongues.

Pull these 1.5-inches back and watch them go, wagging their tongues and licking the competition.

To-Fu Head creators, Devilrobots, crack out Eggy Dunny.

This pearlescent-shelled, 8-inch vinyl is the perfect partner for making omelettes or souffle, or egging the neighbor’s house.

This is the latest in the line of Jamungo’s Sqwerts. Here is MAD’s contribution in green. Limited to 500 pieces, worldwide. Packaged in a nicely illustrated box by MAD. Also available in a rarer color-way which is brown (250 pieces).

This is a very rare and expensive piece by popular artist Joe Ledbetter, the Lava Ringo Bear. Check out eBay and you’ll be seeing this figure being sold for $1000! This figure has been long sold-out and only 60 pieces were produced. It is highly sought after by collectors and is considered the Holy Grail of Ledbetter works. If you have this, fellow collectors will bow down before you.

Even if I’ve been collecting designer toys for over a year now, I still consider myself a newbie and has a lot of catching up to do. It’s hard to complete a line-up. Designer toy prices really increase fast! I guess I’ll just forget about getting the older pieces and focus on what’s being released now.
