Have you noticed the lack of posts lately? >:D
There’s a reason…

Ao-chan and I went to Italy for two weeks o: With my family, of course (no, Kasumi doesn’t live alone xD).

Probably the longest time Ao-chan’s been without the Wii, but he was entertained this time =] I’ll have to separate the posts, cuz there’s so much to say xD

The plane ride:

Ten hours. In an enclosed space. With a Wii-less Ao-chan. Oh, how fun.

Ao-chan, that’s my seat…

Ao-chan’s never been on a plane ride before, much less this far from home xD

“WHOA WHOA WHOA KASUMI, we’re in the air!”

“Yeah, that’s why it’s called an airplane.”

“Yeah, but I didn’t actually think… hey, can we shoot things?”

“What?!”

“Like, you know, in those games…”

“Uh, no. We didn’t pay to die.”

Then the plane did that zero-gravity drop thing for a second, and I screamed.

“Hah! I knew it! We’re under attack!”

“Stop saying that or they might kick you off of the plane, Ao-chan!” xD

Luckily my Nintendo DS kept him occupied most of the time :3

“Kasumi! They’re threatening us to buy Euros! :o”

I have been traveling to my  parents home town since I was young.  The island is beautiful and it’s found in the Carribean Sea.  It’s called The Dominican Republic.  I usually go every couple of months or every year.  But this time around I didn’t go for almost 3 years.  It was still as beautiful as I remember.

I not only stayed in the resorts of The Dominican Republic’s famous Punta Cana, but I also went to visit my family members.  While I was in the town where my summer home is located, I noticed that many dogs were strays and were affected by some sort of polio that had their limbs almost hanging off their bodies.  It was awful! I have two dogs of my own and these images of stray dogs with no food or even water tore my heart in tiny little pieces.  I couldn’t save all of them, but I brought some of them to my summer home, even if my parent were a bit surprised and not really into it.

That there is Bethoven aka Toby.  I found him in an abandoned construction site.  I kept feeding him food everyday until he felt confortable enough to come in my home.  He was covered in flees and ticks, and was in need of a couple of shots.  I took him to the vet where they gave him a flee and tick bath and gave him his needed shots.  He was such a good boy, in search for affection.  The day I left I gave him to one of my neighbors who promised to keep him and take of him.

I also found two girl puppies thrown out in a dumpster.  I was told by the locals that people there usually throw any female puppies out because they have no money to get them spayed, and they don’t want to go throw the trouble of a menstruating dog or a dog in labor.  But I couldn’t resist.  They were just soooooo cute!!! And so small.  It looked like they were not waned so I had to go buy a bottle  to feed them milk.  And I soaked bread with the milk and feed it to them.  They were so cute!!!

I named them Layla (left) and Lila (right).

This weekend we took another trip, this time to Yamadera Temple in Yamagata Prefecure.  It’s a famous holy site because it houses a 1100 year old flame in a Buddhist temple brought from a big temple in Kyoto, which was brought from a temple in China, and it’s been burning all this time.  In fact, the temple in Kyoto had been destroyed in a war, and the flame from Yamadera was used to relight that flame when the temple was rebuilt.  The main flame is deep inside the temple to keep it safe from wind and the elements, so unfortunately we didn’t get to see it.

It’s also a very beautiful place, it’s built on the side of a volcanically formed mountain, and there are all these Buddhist carvings in the rocky formations.  It also has many temples built on the rocks which give an awe inspiring view with the mountains in the back ground.  Sadly though it was raining when we went, so the mountains were not quite as visible as I had hoped for.  But there were pretty with the clouds all hazy around them.
