The start of a new semester, excitedness!
Our new semester has offically started today! Yes, I know this sounds pretty strange because who in the right frame of mind would expect a semester to start on a Wednesday? I bet a lot of students, and maybe even staff, are going to miss their classes today. Terrible, terrible, but like I care. Not a single bit because I dont have a class on Wednesday and the module I am doing for the semester does not have any Wednesday class. That means there is zero chance of me being called up to cover a class, at least for today. Yes, I know I sound a tad selfish but do hear me out on this. Having to cover someone who has failed to remember when the semester is starting or when he has a class, is pure bullshxx. Still, I am feeling chirpy now because I am truly excited about the semester! I will be doing something totally new, and that is like a big shiny challenge to me. I like the nagging need to learn/do something before a ‘deadline’.

Most profs in our school don’t bother showing up on the first day!
XD I think, at this point, students expect that!

You serious?! That is so cool! Not showing up on the first day! Your school allows that to happen?! I am very sure I cant do that because I am only a tiny rank teacher but that also didnt happen in my uni when I was a student there.
So what do you do on the first day? Or you dont show up as well?

There were times that the semester really starts on a Wednesday during my schooling days. I don’t know why, maybe there’s a psychological effect when school starts at the middle of the week. Hehe.
Anyway, enjoy the new semester!

Really!? That is so strange! HeHe! What kind of pyschological effect?
September 5th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
Dunno. Hehe. Monday is lazy day, I guess. XD A lot of people hate Mondays and have less energy to do anything. If it were on a Wednesday, just a few more days and it’s weekend once again! Hahaha!
September 5th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Hey, that’s a good reason. Actually, it is a nicer start if it is nearer to the weekend. HeHe, but I still think tiffy’s profs are still THE best! HAHA!

Agrees with tiffy. Our lecturers never expected us to show up in first day either. You are such a good teacher! Haha

Ah! Serious!? So coolx! You are not talking about orientation week right?
Oh, guess what? Our semester started on Wednesday and based on the schedule, our module’s first class was on Thursday. I was allocated the second class, which was on Friday. There was some miscommunication and the teacher who was supposed to take the first class on Thursday DID NOT SHOW UP on that day! I was called to cover for him. How unfortunate, and his poor students waited for half an hour before I reached the class because that’s when they found out that he was not in class. Good thing, it was because of some miscommunication between the teacher and the person who is in charge of class allocation. He was previously given other days of classes and was not really updated of the new class allocation. I mean, if he had overslept or had gotten too drunk or something like that, he would be in serious trouble.
In SG, we usually hang people who made this kind of mistakes.

i am seriously laughing at the last few lines of your comment, dear tingal

We hang quite a bit…

I wonder what serious trouble means! D:

I think it depends a lot on how much the boss likes you. Say if you are the boss’ pet and you overslept, it is very unlikely to be your fault.
September 9th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
oh that’s kind of hard to manage for the non-pets who are still bonded :\…
