Cupcakes, also known as Fairy cakes (British), are small cakes made inside small paper cup containers. They are so neat to look at! The main ingredients used for making cupcakes are butter, sugar, eggs and flour. I want to learn how to make cupcakes some day!

7 Random and Weird Things about Me

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Sorry, KTS! I am a month too late in posting this. I didnt forget about your tag. I was just too lazy to gather my thoughts for this. Alright, now let me try to think of 7 random and weird things about me.

1. I dont know why but I really like Hello Kitty. I dont think she is the cutest thing I have ever seen but I really like her big face, her 3-on-each-side whiskers, her black eyes, her yellow nose and her pointed ears. It doesnt matter that she is sometimes out of proportion, I just like her. I like her 24/7 and I even like the pirated her. Well, I like cats in general and Hello Kitty for sure.

2. For the past two years, I have been indulging in sashimi and wasabi. Before that, I was really disgusted with wasabi because it smelled like paint to me, and sashimi tasted like nothing but yucky weird. I never thought that I would one day, like them. I dont know what had happened to me since but I am totally mad about sashimi and wasabi now! I have real Japanese food every Sunday!

3. I am worried about my health, really! I used to eat real less because I was very health conscious. I went swimming regularly and I made sure I had a good intake of fruits and vegetables every day. Then, I would never drink a whole can of sweetened drink in one day. I would keep half of it in the fridge for another day. When I was 20, I told myself that I would turn vegetarian for good health sake when I reach 25. When I was 25, I deferred it to 28. When I was 28 (okay, now you know I am older than 28), I totally forgot about it. I just remembered it 1.5 minutes ago when I tried to rack my brains for something to write about my health.

4. I know I look lazy and not only do I look lazy, I walk, talk and do things in a lazy manner. I even suspect that I sleep lazily. But the fact is, I am actually very hardworking. When I was a student, I studied very hard. When I have important work to do, I will finish it asap. I know this is nothing to brag about but I actually enjoy studying/working. I am just aimless most of the time and I really dislike exerting physical force from within me to get something done so I really hate moving or carrying heavy stuff.

7. When I was 17, I had migraine for a year. I was really sick for that one year. My head was in constant pain and it hurt so much that I couldnt do anything. It was really frustrating, especially my parents and doctors kept reassuring me that it was cause by stress from school. It is not true at all! It was some kind of disorder and I knew it. I even thought of leaving school, to prepare for my own funeral, because I didnt think I would survive any longer. My brain was in a hang mode for the whole time. A year later, some doctor gave me 10 really, and I mean, really strong painkillers. One pill and I couldnt stay awake for the next few hours and when I woke up, the pain was gone and life was back to normal. Until a few weeks later and then the cycle repeated itself again. Till today, I still get migraine but not as often as then. I also stop using the really strong painkillers. I use panadol at times when it gets unbearable or when I see one lying around my room. Surprisingly, panadol work on me now. They didnt work on me ten years ago!

Late night cute pictures

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

It’s almost 1 AM now. I just left my beloved bed after trying to lose my ‘consciousness’ for the last 10 minutes and not getting anywhere near it. Actually, the very, very restless me doesnt want to sleep. I feel like surfing the internet. Is this some kind of disease? Internet disease? Then I hope to be cured soon! I am sleeping lesser and lesser each day and not doing anything constructive. To make matter worse, I dream of having a cup of coffee and a slice of chocolate cake as I am surfing the internet now, but having a coffee now would be a bit disastrous for me because then I wouldnt be able to sleep at all for the rest of the night, or whatever that would be left of it. And there are no chocolate cakes in the house! What is this?

So I was browsing Sanriotown blogs and I came across the blog of The Adventures of Hello Kitty and Friends. It is so amazingly cute! Is this the official blog of something? I really dont know. Sorry, I am a bit slow here and please dont blame the old lady. Something about this blog caught my eyes. It has its own theme and banner!

3danimation_header.jpg

So cute! I wonder if it is possible for us to upload our own theme and banner. That would be so cool. And look at these pictures:

Hello Babe, Dear Daniel and My Melody (Like you dont already know!)

3danimation_2.jpg

Awww. I think Hello Babe is lost. Where are the rest? Oh, I suspect Dear Daniel is having a love affair with My Melody when Babe is not looking.

Okay, enough rubbish. I met a visitor from Netherlands last weekend, and she reminded me of Netherlands! I want to go there again!

But will there be another time? I dont know. :(

Why?

For those who have signed up for a Hello Kitty Online closed beta account, you would have received this:

Thank you for subscribing to Hello Kitty Online closed beta! As much as we would like to accommodate all our subscribers, there are only a limited number of accounts to give out. We would like to pick best people to test the game, so this is your chance to tell us why you should be one of the chosen applicants. Here’s how you can get an account:

  1. Create an account in SanrioTown.com and log-in.
  2. Go to Dream Studio and create a video answering the question “Why do you think you should be selected for the closed beta testing?“..
  3. The length of the video should be at least 15 seconds / 3 slides.
  4. Include “mmorpg” in the video’s tags.
  5. After saving the video, use the “Send video” function at the lower right corner of the page. Input the email address that you’ve used to subscribe for the closed beta account in the “Personal message” field, and send it to mmorpg @ hellokitty.com.
  6. Multiple entries are allowed.

All submissions should be sent by 9 March 2008, 23:59 Hong Kong time. You can check out the Dream Studio tutorial (English / Chinese) for help on how to make your video. SanrioTown reserves the right to pick the earliest and best videos based on our own judgment.

SanrioTown reserves the right to pick the earliest and best videos based on our own judgment. Don’t forget to check the Hello Kitty online game site and the official HKO blog for updates.

Hurry! The number of slots is really limited, so be sure to make those videos as soon as possible. Screening will run on a “first come first serve” basis, so don’t miss out on this chance to get a closed beta account! Good luck!

Well, I find it sad that they choose to put us through this. I mean, we are also offering our time and effort to help them with the testing. If there are limited accounts, why did they not limit the number of sign-ups in the first place? Now that they have more sign-ups than available accounts, why do we have to do something as non-related to MMORPG as creating creative slides to prove that we deserve an account? Does it mean that someone with more creativity or someone who could find someone else with more creativity to do the job, would deserve an account more than someone who is a loyal blogger of Sanriotown?

Yusheng…nine days too late!

We had it on the 16th day of the Chinese New Year, and I thought we were a day too late but as I was searching the net for more information or a more international word for ‘yusheng’, I came to realise that yusheng, or raw fish salad, is usually tossed and eaten on the 7th day of the Chinese New Year. HEHE. But, it’s okay. I like the salmon~

Off to Steffi’s, in 3 weeks’ time!

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

That’s right. In 3 weeks’ time, I will be in Bali, Indonesia. Hope to bump into Steffi in Bali. Okay, I know Indonesia isnt exactly small and Medan isnt exactly near to Bali, but still, with Steffi, you never know! Air tickets and hotel rooms have been confirmed and paid, and I am so looking forward to the one-week holiday in Bali. First 2 nights will be spent in Tuban, Bali. I will be staying at Hotel Santika Premier Beach Resort Bali:

For Kajane Mua Villa, each room/house comes with a swimming pool! Oh man, I am going to swim… with my swimming costume on.

Pictures, pictures, my own pictures soon!

Books, well read!

Monday, February 18th, 2008

I wish I could tell you in details, how much I had enjoyed myself while reading the work of some authors of suspense fiction writing. Tess Gerritsen, Mary Higgins Clark and Sandra Brown are a few of my favourite authors to name.

I read at least 7 books from Tess Gerritsen, at least 20 books from Mary Higgins Clark, and 2 mystery books from Sandra Brown. No time was wasted! Their work were perfect entertainment for me.

Of late, I read the latest work by Tess Gerritsen:

tess_gerritsen_the_bone_garden.jpg

Perfect. I caught up with Tess Gerritsen since last year, and Mary Higgins Clark, some years back. I feel so relaxed just waiting for my favourite authors to publish their yearly work, but I also like the challenge of trying to complete all the previous work of each of my favourite author. After I caught up with Mary Higgins Clark, I found Tess Gerritsen, and after I caught up with Tess Gerritsen, I found Sandra Brown. It is Sandra Brown for me since then. The stupidly inflexible reader has since read two of her books:

sandra_brown_suspense_chill_factor.jpg    sandra_brown_suspense_ricochet.jpg

Great stuff. I enjoyed them, and just last week, I bought another two of her books. I think I will enjoy them:

There is a long list of suspense fiction books by Sandra Brown. Yay! I know what to do for the rest of my life. I am currently reading The Witness, after completing a book recommended by Shadowcat some time ago:

I liked it too, and I quite like her style of writing. I think, if I am still alive after reading all of Sandra Brown’s suspense fiction books, I will start reading Patricia Cornwell’s.

The Movie: CJ7 (长江七号)

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

For those who know Stephen Chow who is an actor from Hong Kong, and have watched some of his funniest movies, CJ7 is a 2008 Hong Kong science fiction comedy film written, produced and directed by him. Stephen Chow also stars in the movie. After watching CJ7 a few times since several days ago, I became one of his biggest fan!

cj7_1.jpg Stephen Chow plays a widower who lives in a partly demolished house with his son. As he is very poor, he can’t afford to buy a toy for his son. He finds a toy in the garbage and brings it back to his son. The toy turns out to be an alien. A very cute one!
cj7_2.jpg

The name of the alien is 长江七号, which is also the title of this movie. It means Long River 7 and the idea was obtained from the series of Chinese-Shenzhou manned space missions. Shenzhou 7 will be launched in September 2008.

长江七号 looks like a dog with the cutest eyes on a furry yellow face, and a rubbery green body. It certainly has the behaviour of a dog and is very smart.

cj_4.jpg

Even though it is a comedy, the movie has its saddest moment when Stephen Chow… (movie spoiler alert). Anyway, the boy is such a good actor…

cj7_3.jpg

…or actress? It turns out that the boy is played by a girl. Her name is Xu Jiao.

Happy Birthday to me!

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

Yes yes! It’s my birthday today! *Giggles* I am really, really happy with my birthday this year. For one, I received more than 20 sms from different people like colleagues, old friends, ex-students and relatives, all wishing me a Happy Birthday. Not forgetting the birthday greetings I got from people I know via MSN, facebook, and friendster, I am really, really happy with everyone in my life. At least for today.

Bf and another colleague even stayed up till 12MN to sing me a Happy birthday song although they were so, so tired. I am so, so touched. :)

Actually, my birthday celebration started last Saturday! Bf and I went to Equinox, a restaurant on the 70th floor of Swissotel.

From the 70th floor, these were what we saw:

On the 70th floor, these were what we had:

Cool, right? I wish I get to go there every weekend!

Then yesterday, three of my colleagues brought me to Johor Bahru, Malaysia, for a birthday lunch celebration! Johor Bahru is the part of Malaysia that is nearest to Singapore, and the school which I am working at is just on that part of Singapore that is nearest to Johor Bahru. One of them drove all of us there and back during lunch hour. I was told to bring my passport to work for that day! So exciting! These are the pictures I took during the lunch:

And a slice of birthday cake which they thought, was too small. So today, one of them sent this to me via email:

Meatball Dinner

Good dinner. Well, it was good until I learnt something. To my greatest disgust. I should have trusted my own instinct. I am seldom wrong. That’s all. I dont feel like talking about it here. Nice pictures? Dinner was meatball, boiled potatoes and french beans, and skirt was too short.

Back to work after a four-day break (two days of Chinese New Year and two days of weekend). Only four consecutive days of pineapple tarts and all the other bye-bye-diet equivalences and I have become so very slow and lethargic. Sigh, we should do this more often. CNY on every Thursday and Friday.

I feel like random. I like this music video, and the song of course.
