The Rock Out Spotlight: New Found Glory

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

If you think of Pop-Punk, the name New Found Glory (or NFG for an apt shortcut) pops up. They dominated the Pop-Punk scene during ‘02 - ‘04 with their “get off your butt and jump around” sound and Jordan’s (the vocalist) high-pitched voice lingered in our heads. And then, they suddenly went off the grid. No one knew what happened to ‘em. During ‘06, they came out with the album Coming Home and boy did it blow everyone’s minds. Jordan traded in his squeal with a more mature, controlled and fuller voice. Combine that with NFG’s energy and you got yourself a kick-butt conconction.

New Found Glory  - My Friend’s Over You

This song was the one that propelled NFG to superstar status. It became the anthem of all teens and punks and *cough*posers*cough*. I was always concerned that the singing style of Jordan where he “pinches” could be damaging and didn’t sound natural. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat overall sound, though. :D

New Found Glory - It’s Not Your Fault

See the overall improvement? Nice, huh? Now, get that voice and let it put a spin on an old song acoustically.

I soooo lurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrve this version.
