Anyway, you must be familiar with the concept of the rush, right? For the uninitiated, a rush is to crank up as much units as you can and march ‘em off to the enemies base in the shortest amount of time possible.

This, however, is a stroke of genius: An SCV rush that can only be pulled off by the best Terran player in the galaxy: the Korean named Boxer.

Darkest Hour - Convalescence

I’m gonna say bye-bye to my ear drums! I shall offer it to the gods of rock.

With the release of The Dark Knight just around the corner, I can’t help but watch the trailer over and over and over again. I’m still wrapping my head around the concept of Heath Ledger playing joker. If you’ve watched the trailer, you can see that Ledger’s version of Joker is edgier. No puns, no “jokes”. Here, he doesn’t split sides… he splits heads.

As for dedication… this is how Heath prepared to prepare playing the Clown Prince of Crime:

To prepare, he lived alone in a hotel room for a month, formulating the character’s posture, voice and psychology. While he initially found it difficult, Ledger was eventually able to generate a voice which did not sound like Jack Nicholson’s take on the character. He started a diary, in which he wrote the Joker’s thoughts and feelings to guide himself during his performance. The challenge of the role put a strain on Ledger’s sleep patterns, finding himself unable to rest for more than a few hours each night.

I would be lying if I said people don’t get envious when some of their friends make it big. Of course, there’s still that pure elation and appreciation for their success. Deep down, there’s a little monster telling you that “Hey, that should be you!”

Anyway, being in the underground, people get signed and you get to see their rise from the depths to mainstream superstardom (ugh). Anyway, I’m gonna show you a couple of bands who are also my dear friends who have made (or are making it) big.

Typecast - Boston Drama

Here’s Typecast, the most rockingest emo-punk-screamo band in the Philippines. I’ve known them since 2003 and I think that of all the bands from the underground, they’re the ones who deserve all the fame and fortune and (MORE FAME) that came their way. They worked hard for it and now, they have 3 albums under their belt and it seems there’s no stopping them. Hurray!

Concrete Sam - Heto Na

This one here’s Concrete Sam. The latest inductee into the mainstream from the Underground. It’s safe to say that they’re the New Found Glory of the Philippines. Many Pinoy bands have tried and failed miserably to try to even sound like a decent pop-punk band here. I guess they perfected the formula. Also, if you watch closely, 8 from Queso and Led and Jay from Kamikazee are in the video. Yay!

I must admit, as far as the Marvel vs. DC war, I’m pretty much sold on Marvel. Why? First, their heroes are more “believable”, they’re more grounded and pound-for-pound, they’re a lot more original. DC heroes are all alien and super powerful and ALIEN. argh. I’m human! I want human (or mutant) heroes! Anyway, I stumbled upon this site which is basically a tribute to the great works of Stan Lee and the whole of Marvel Comics. Recreating their glory in canvas, toys or whatever medium they please.

Went out this morning to hunt for a stray cat. Caught one. Named her Luminara. Anyway, I got a piece of toast, buttered it up (Dairy Creme is <3) and stuck it to Luminara’s behind. Of course, she didn’t approve and struggled a bit. Got up to the roof, a fidgety buttery toasted Luminara in hand. Breathed in deep, and threw her out. I was expecting a spinning, gravity-defying combination of feline and a breakfast treat but instead, she ungloriously fell. The cat landed on her feet though, the toast was ruined though.

If you’ve read my previous post about covers, you’ll know that if you really want to cover a song, especially from a great band, you MUST give it justice.

Also, if you’ve read my other post about drummers, you’ll know that I have a deep, deep, so deep that Cousteau would shy away from the thought of its depth, admiration for drummers.

Anyway, was idly skimming through youtube when I discovered Cobus… probably the greatest drummer that ever lived. Yep, well…. not the greatest… but he’s up THERE *points up*

First, this is Fort Minor’s Believe Me. I’m not too excited about the band per se, but the whole hip-hop sound is… swish. (I’ll get more into my whole hip-hop phase more tomorrow I guess).

Now, bask in the glory of Cobus…

 I want to play the druuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumssssss!!!! I love the way he moves. Cobus’ grace with the sticks is an art form… like a ripple in a lake that ebbs and flows..
