Bottling is Good

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

Nothing makes me fume and steam more than a terrible band being loved by throngs of people who don’t know any better. I’m looking at you Fall Out Boy (well at least Fall Out Boy before the travesty that is From Under the Cork Tree), Panic! at the Disco, and My Chemical *shudder* Romance. So anyway, a sort of “in thing” right now is bottling - it means that if a band you hate with all your guts is on stage, you throw a half/fully filled bottle of water at them and hope it finds home. The concept is beautifully simple isn’t it? I found videos of bottling in action.

My Chemical Romance being bottled. :D

Woohooo! Watching this video made me shed a tear or two. It’s too beautiful… glorious even. However, this next video is going to make you do backflips of joy.

Panic! at the Disco’s vocalist gets clocked big time.

This one, kiddies, is one for the record books. It was reported that it took a solid ten minutes before he got up… what a p!$!*. Tsk. tsk.

Polysics and Strong Machine 2

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Polysics (or POLYSICS) are a Japanese new wave/Rock band from Tokyo, who personally dub their unique style as “technicolor pogo punk”. The band started in 1997, but got their big break in 1998 at a concert in Tokyo. They create high energy music, fusing conventional guitar music, with synthesized and computer generated sound to create a unique mixture of punk and Synthpop, heavily inspired by the American bands Devo and The Tubes, and Japanese bands such as P-Model and Yellow Magic Orchestra. Their song lyrics often consist of Japanese, English, or just plain gibberish (”Space Language”). The band has been noted for their extremely energetic live performances and their wild gimmicky outfits.

Polysics feat. Strong Machine 2 - I My Me Mine

I just discovered this band 2 nights ago. Aren’t they amazing? Well at first, I was totally weirded out by their whole sound but then I realized that they’re like the Japanese version of The Blood Brothers, one of my top favorite bands. Check them out:

The Blood Brothers - Set Fire to the Face on Fire

They’re loud, they’re weird and they surely rock out.

Saying "No Fair!" and Mean It.

I love playing Guitar Hero, especially it’s latest helping of hot, rock-out love, Guitar Hero 3. The game’s last song, Dragonforce’s Through The Fire and Flames is enough to give you carpal tunnel for 2 years… and that’s just playing it on MEDIUM. Meet Conrad, some dude from the States. He played TTFF on expert, survived in style and HAS proof to back-up such an achievement. Check it out:

IT’S

NOT

FAIR

Well, at least I CAN DO THAT ON A REAL GUITAR.

I lie…

Well I’ll be a monkey’s uncle…

Let this picture sink in for a bit.

’nuff said. Heath Ledger will be king of the universe once this movie comes out. Oh and so will Christian Bale.

Gaming in 2008

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

I think video games are the best invention since the Lazy Boy and I am a fierce believer that some day, dorks WILL rule the land. So anyway, 2008 has been a fantastic year for the video game industry with entries such as Crysis, Super Mario Galaxy, Call of Duty 4, and Halo 3. However, 2008 will be MUCH more of a groundbreaking year for games. Here are my hotly anticipated games that I can’t wait to get my little, grubby dork fingers on. Mwahahahahha

1. Super Smash Brothers Brawl

Nintendo’s version of a fighting game, SSBB features memorable video game characters and gives players a chance to duke it out and see fantasy matches. Ever wondered who would win in a match between Mario and Sonic? Link and Snake? The possibilites are endless.

2. Fallout 3

Any self-respecting gamer knows the whole Fallout series and has at least played Fallout 1 and/or 2. After 7 or so years, we get another chance to return to the Wasteland.

Be ashamed if you don’t know this.

3. Starcraft 2

After 8 years, we FINALLY have Starcraft 2. Although it doesn’t release until October 2008, I cannot wait to see what Blizzard has done to up the ante with a second dose of this amazing strategy game. Terrans FTW!

With that said, I have realized that I am descending into deeper levels of dorkhood….

and I LOVE IT.
