Hi. I wanted to let everyone know that I’m probably not going to be online updating my blog and unofficial take on Jero-san’s blog for just a little while. The reason why I will not be online much is due to my wrist. My doctor stated that I have acute tendinitis and fortunately it isn’t in the hand I write with. He thinks it is likely that I just had too many papers due and my wrist just couldn’t keep up. I’ve got two 4 1/2 hour exams one after another soon so I’m trying to rest it up as much as possible. I am so sorry for this occurance and I hope that people will continue to support Jero-san. I hope that people will visit his company/promotion team’s (Victor Entertainment) official Jero-san website at http://www.jvcmusic.co.jp/-/Artist/A021548.html and visit his official blog at http://blog.goo.ne.jp/jeroenka/. There is also a wide variety of different music videos and information about his life on sites like youtube (where myself and others have created playlists of our favourite videos) to hear his amazing singing talent. For people who are not familiar with Japan, there is a nation wide holiday called National Foundation Day (建国記念の日or kenkoku kinen-no-hi) that is celebrated on February 11 every year. It is much similar to the American July 4 event or Canada Day on July 1. I expect that between the holiday and the promotion event, Jero-san’s blog does not start again until February 18. The picture in this blog shows Jero-san with his eyes closed near a body of water. I think that this picture is for an interview or promotion event as I think I saw this picture on a video clip. Today’s picture displays a group photo in an office setting. I think that this may be members of the team that helps record or produce Jero-san’s music. Even though I am uncertain who is present in this group, it appears that they are all happy to be together with Jero-san. I am not an expert on blogs but I do know that Jero-san’s is the most frequently updated with a variety of different photos that make the viewer feel like they are travelling around Japan with Jero-san, learning and exploring a country that one may never be able to experience otherwise. Here is a picture of Jero-san at an unknown outside location with a smile on his face holding a piece of paper. I do not know any Japanese so I assume that it is either an add for a concert related event (poster, newspaper article, etc.) or it is a ranking of the performers. The Japanese frequently have lists of all kinds published in the popular media and the music industry is especially popular for the rankings. I am sorry that I can’t be more specific, sorry! This entry was posted on January 24, 2008 (01/24/08). Jero-san is pictured wearing an orange polo shirt, a black and red cap, and a golden chain by a keyboard. Based on the English language words present in the text (R&B, Hip Hop) I expect that Jero-san is either talking about adding a bit of these elements into the Enka songs and/or talking about the talking about his clothing. For those who do not know, Enka singers tend to wear more traditional Japanese clothing like kimono. According to his wikipedia entry Jero-san had to convince his publishers to allow him to wear his “regular” clothing which would have been considered a huge risk. It appears that Jero-san’s choice paid off though, he is enjoyed by both the younger people (for the Hip Hop elements and clothing) and the older people (who grew up with Enka music).
