UPCAT - University of the Philippines College Admissions Test is 2008 Cinema One Original

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

No it’s not time for the UP College Admissions Test, in fact, it just ended more than a month ago. It’s the recently talked about UPCAT - The Movie! I got this from an email from Thea; then her sister Tiffy, and a lot other people did the viral messaging, and now it’s famous, at least in the internet world!:)

So what is this talked about film? It’s about two teenage boys who believe that passing the UP College Admissions Test is the passport to their dreams. They each have different views in life, and different goals they want to achieve - just like many other UPCAT passers now studying (who have studied) in UP.

I guess this film wants to connect with the students, and the alumni and give somewhat of a reality check for each UP student/faculty and staff/alumni regarding their hopes, goals and dreams, and where they are right now.

Here’s the first ever trailer-video I saw:

And this is from Director Roman Carlo Olivarez:

UPCAT is a 2008 Cinema One Originals film with Happy Endings Films in cooperation with Bigtop Media Productions and Digitrax Sound Productions. It’s original content and direction is by Direk Roman Carlo Olivarez.

Adidas King of the Road Race Results

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

The Adidas King of the Road 10k and 21k race results are out! I got it from runningDATCom.

Adidas KOTR 5 km Results
Adidas KOTR 10 km Results
Adidas KOTR 21 km Results

From the previous post, I thought that my time was 1:50:08, but it turned out that I was mistaken (I knew I wasn’t really looking at the clock correctly..), it’s 1:21:23 at a pace of 8:09 mins/km. I was surprised that I did better than my Nike Human Race run!! Woot! Even though I really wasn’t able to train for it because of academic constraints (ahem, hassle talaga, ahem), I did a little better.

Adidas King of the Road 2008 Champion!

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

Yesterday was the big event. Admittedly I really didn’t think I would be able to finish the 10km long route for the fact that I haven’t been able to train for it. I was swamped with school work and blog event here and there. The only time I got to run was last Thursday, and I really felt bad after. Also, my running buddy, Tiffy, wasn’t around either because she wasn’t able to train too.

Even though this was the case, I finished the race and championed over my apprehensions. I’m not sure if this was the correct time, but the clock said I clocked in 01:50:08 (I hope that was the right clock I looked at - because there were 3 clocks there). Either way, though I lagged a bit from my previous run, I was happy and I thank God I was able to make it! :)

Oh I saw Pastor Dennis and the rest of the Victory Greenhills contingent. I’m so happy to see them running the healthy race, and most of all, running for God.

It’s the last week for this semester - last stretch until our well deserved semestral break. PUSH PUSH. We can all do this! I have these to worry about in the week to come:

  • Stat 101 4th Exam
  • Stat 101 Finals
  • PA 113 Case Study Paper
  • PA 141 Finals
  • PA 141 Policy Analysis Paper Report
  • PA 161 Finals

Camarines Sur and Caramoan’s really near yet so far. Anyway, after that, I get to train on a more regular basis. Yey! Why don’t you join us in the next run? :)

Volcom T-shirt Artwork Contest for Filipino Artists

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

Here’s your chance to become a featured artist for a global brand.

Over the last decade, Volcom has provided a platform for aspiring artists to express themselves through the Featured Artist Series line of products. Mark Appleyard, Michael Sieben, Mitchell Froelich, Todd Bratrud and Michael J. Zepeda are only some of the independent artists previously tapped by Volcom.

The chosen Volcom artist is then tasked to design T-shirts and a range of other accessories such as hats, wallets, and belts as well as boardshorts, sweatshirts and woven/knit shirts. The Featured Artist Series line is released in Volcom outlets worldwide.

Following the theme, “Why are you hurting your neighborhood? What’s wrong with you?” Volcom is now inviting local Filipino artists to turn in an original design that answers the question for the chance to be part of Volcom’s Featured Artist Series line.

In line with this, bloggers and media friends were invited to the launch of this project weeks ago and got to try to create their very own Volcom T-shirt design embodying its campaign/theme for the contest in an impromptu contest. The winner was submitted to the contest.

If you’re an artist and a legit Filipino citizen, be the one to shout out “Why are you hurting your neighborhood? What’s wrong with you?” The best among original submitted graphic shirt designs with this theme will be picked out by Volcom and made into a limited edition shirt. The chosen designer will be featured by Volcom and enjoy the following awesome perks:

  • A cash prize of Php 25,000.00
  • A Php 10,000 shopping spree of Volcom stuff from Aloha Boardsports.
  • Plus, media mileage and bragging rights for holding the title of being a Volcom Featured Artist

You can use any art or graphics medium. Just be sure to submit it in the following formats:

  • -16 ½” width x 23 ½” height JPEG format with 300 dpi
  • Artwork should incorporate the Volcom stone.

Upload your piece to http://www.volcomcallforart.com/ using the registration form found in the site. You will receive a confirmation email acknowledging receipt of your entry.

Results will be out by the 2nd week of November so start working on your all-original piece now, ’cause you just might be the next Volcom Featured Artist.
