I’m not really that nationalistic type of person to the point that I’ll display the Philippine flag in my house for everyone to see. Yes, I am proud to be a Filipino. Yes, I love my country. But, I do not see the point in the flag displaying thing. Besides, I think that my dad would not allow me to do that. What I can do, is to post this flag in this website to join the Filipino people in celebrating the National Flag day/ week which started on May 28, and will end on our Independence Day on June 12.
According to Section 7 of RA 8491 - An Act Prescribing the Code of the National Flag, Anthem, Motto, Coat-of-Arms and other Heraldic Items and Devices of the Philippines that I got from Ivan About Town:
“SECTION 7. The flag shall also be displayed in private buildings and residences or raised in the open on flag-staffs in front of said buildings every April 9 (Araw ng Kagitingan); May 1 (Labor Day); May 28 (National Flag Day) to June 12 (Independence Day); last Sunday of August (National Heroes Day); November 30 (Bonifacio Day); and December 30 (Rizal Day); and on such other days as may be declared by the President and/or local chief executives.”

I am an Englishman married to a Filipina, I have two sons. We will be retiring to Philippines. Its a beautiful country and has everything to be proud of. I spend time with my sons making them proud to be British and Proud to be Filipino. This country has more going for it than many others in the world. Your freedom of press is fantastic, like the British press. But digging up the dirt may allow people a dim view of the Establishment. Well it may have its faults but its coming good. No other country in Asia has a truly free press, no Arab country, no African, no South American, no Russian satelite. The free press and the Courts make this country special. How to demonstate it, well one way: flying the flag is a terrific statement to everyone.
In England We flaunt our British flag and our English flags - I love them, they make my hair run up my neck as they flap in the breeze. I think the flag of the Philippines is a stunning flag. It needs to flown everywhere, I think there should be six foot long pendant flags flown in every garden in the country. The effect is dramatic, look at them and tell yourselves everyday you are rightly proud and this country is good.
If you think flag flying is not so big a deal just watch someone burn your flag and feel the rage. Yes flying the flag is a powerful symbol, good men fought for it, shed blood for it. Show it off make all in heaven who died for it and all on earth see it up high. Look upon it and say Yes This stands for My Country, A Truely Free Country - A rare jewel, slightly rough but being cut to perfection. Soon it will be Brilliant for all the world to admire.

Hi Paul!
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I guess your point’s right. I’m sure not all Filipinos have the same sentiment (sadly) but if they were just like you, then maybe things would be a little better. It is a powerful symbol, and I hope Filipinos recognize that too. ^^
