Fr. Johnny Go, together with Gold’s Gym Fitness and Training director Ms. Ley Fernandez, and Ms. Esther Arca, owner of Wasabe, Spice of the Orient , presided over the ribbon-cutting to formally open the two venues of the Fr. Rafael Cortina Sports Center. Both ladies thanked the school and expressed their optimism for the partnership with Xavier.

The Fitness Center is managed and operated by the renowned Gold’s Gym. The facilities boast of an excellent variety of cardio-vascular exercise machines like treadmill, cross trainer, and cycling equipment. They also have machines for weight training and a complete set of free weights. The gym also features group exercise classes like kickboxing, yoga, yogilates, street dancing and spin biking. For the summer, GOLD’s will launch for the very first time, a holistic program for children called KIDS CLUB. This program, specially designed for children ages 5 to 12, includes three interesting modules - Kids in Motion and Boot Camp, kids yoga, and hip hop/street dancing, all meant to improve physical fitness and to develop the child’s motor skills, endurance, flexibility, rhythm and coordination.

The Xavier Street Café is managed by Wasabe and offers a set lunch menu or ala carte at attractive prices. The café is open from 7am to 9:30pm everyday. Catering and take out services are also offered.

Fr. Art Borja blessed the two venues which ended with the traditional throwing of lucky coins. A buffet spread was served to the some fifty guests from the administration, parents, and alumni.
