Pinoy-N, a group of gamers dedicated in playing consoles and handhelds made by Nintendo, joined the first gaming convention in the Philippines and had their guests experience the wonderful game mechanics of the Nintendo Wii.

Diobrando, a member of the community, giddily told us how Pinoy-N started.

“…what happened was there are a bunch of people who love Nintendo consoles and realized that they had little exposure here in the Philippines. From there, we decided to market the Wii as a family friendly console, same as to how Nintendo markets the Wii. One of our goals also is to make non-gamers as gamers by taking advantage of Wii’s unique game play experience.”

When asked to follow up on his statement where he said that the Nintendo Wii has a low popularity in the Philippines despite it’s global achievements, Diobrando replied:

“Well, we have to consider that there’s a lot of people who still doesn’t know the potential of the Nintendo wii and many still go with the PlayStation 3. Perhaps most of the people are still used in the PlayStation era, where they grew up with the PlayStaion 1 and 2, whereas the Nintendo era died down during the late ’90s.”

Pinoy-N is an active gaming community that already participated in many events like this one. As long as an event would be beneficial to their community and they have the chance to market Nintendo to the public, expect to see Pinoy-N there.
