You Give A Little Love

Monday, September 24th, 2007

This is one of my favorite commercials to date. The beat is really catchy, the graphics are cute, and amazingly, there’s actually substance in the ad. Trust Coca-Cola to make these warm, homey videos that we know and love.:)

Oh yeah, the music they used here is actually a pretty old song , by Bugsy Malone. Here are the lyrics:

Give A Little Love

We could’ve been anything
That we wanted to be
And it’s not too late to change
I’d be delighted to give it some thought
May-be you’ll agree that we really ought
Two, three, four)
We could’ve been anything
That we wanted to be)
Yes, that decision was ours
It’s been decided we’re weaker divided)
Let friendship double up our powers)
We could’ve been anything
That we wanted to be
And I’m not saying that we should
But if we try it, we’d learn to abide it
We could be the best at bein’ good guys)
Flowers of the earth
Who can even guess how much
A real friend is worth?
Good guys, shake an open hand)
May-be trusting
If we try to understand
No doubt about it
It must be worthwhile
Good friends do tend to make you smile)
We could’ve been anything
That we wanted to be
Yes, that decision is ours
It’s been decided we’re weaker divided
Let friendship double our powers)
You give a little love
And it all comes back to you
(Da da da ra da da da)
You know you gonna be remembered
For the things you say and do
(Da da da ra da da da)
You give a little love
Andit all comes back to you
(Da da da ra da da da)
You know you gonna be remembered
For the things you say and do
(Da da da ra da da da)
(Repeat and fade)

Turtle in a Half-Shell, Turtle Power

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

I got today’s post idea from Tingal.:P She mentioned in passing that she doesn’t like Ninja Turtles that much (sniff).

I do, though, so I decided to feature my favorite turtle of the bunch: Raphael!

I loved him in the old cartoons, not only because red was my favorite color, but also because he has the most wicked sense of humor.:P Unlike Michelangelo, who’s fun-loving and who cracks jokes for the sheer joy of it, Raph is sarcastic and witty, which I really love.:D He wields a pair of sai, said to be one of the most difficult weapons to master.

I decided to follow his character on the Internet sometime back, and it turned out that in the comics, he was the “bad sheep” of the group, angsty and a bit of a loner. This made me like him even more, since most of the characters I’ve loved are the borderline ones. Theories state that he’s mildly jealous that Leonardo (the oldest of the brothers) is the leader and not him, but he’d still follow him. He is really loyal to his family, and would go on a rampage if one of them gets hurt. He is closest to Michelangelo, the baby of the four. He is arguably the strongest and the best fighter of the brothers.

In the 2007 movie, his angst was more emphasized as compared to the cartoons, being resentful towards Leonardo for leaving them. He took on the disguise of Nightwatcher to continue crime-fighting while Michelangelo and Donatello try out “regular jobs.” What’s funny is that his build, his accent, and his attitude kind of reminds one of a gangster who’s willing to beat up anyone at the slightest provocation.

Just realized: that doesn’t put him in a good light, does it?@_@ I still love him though, and also because of these things.:D He might have an attitude, but when it comes to tight situations, you know you can count on him, because he’s still good.:D

In closing, here are the lyrics of the song from the old cartoons:

Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Heroes in a half shell, turtle power
They’re the worlds most fearsome fighting teens
[ we’re really hip ]

They’re heroes in a half shell and they’re green
[ hey, get a grip ]
When the evil shredder attacks
These turtle boys don’t cut him no slack

Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Teenage mutant ninja turtles

Splinter taught them to be ninja teens
[ he’s a radical rat ]
Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines
[ that’s a fact, Jack ]
Raphael iscool but rude
Michaelangelo is a party dude
Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Heroes in a half shell, turtle power

Idea: Maybe I should feature my favorite characters from time to time here? :D

Knockin’ on the Electrolux Door

Monday, July 16th, 2007

After posting my entry on the Electrolux jingle, I got really curious, and I decided to dig a bit and find out what’s up with the song. Lo and behold! Apparently, there is a song where it’s based on, and it’s from the 60s! I knew it was too catchy to be a jingle. Nyahahahahaha!

For all you jingle-heads out there, I present to you this song called (what else?) I’m Gonna Knock on Your Door.

This is Shadowcat, signing out.

I’m Gonna Knock on Your Door

(Aaron Schroeder/Sid Wayne)

Eddie Hodges - 1961

I’m gonna knock on your door, ring on your bell

Tap on your window too

If you don’t come out tonight when the moon is bright

I’m gonna knock and ring and tap until you do

I’m gonna knock on your door, call out your name

Wake up the town, you’ll see I’m gonna hoot, hoot and howl like a lovesick owl

Until you say you’re gonna come out with me

Hey little girl, this ain’t no time to sleep

Let’s count kisses stead of counting sheep

How, how can I hold you near

With you up there and me down here

I’m gonna knock on your door, ring on your bell

Tap on your window too

If you don’t come out tonight when the moon is bright

I’m gonna knock and ring and tap until you do

(musical break)

Hey little girl, this ain’t no time to sleep

Let’s count kisses stead of counting sheep

How, how can I hold you near

With you up there and me down here

I’m gonna knock on your door, ring on your bell

Tap on your window too

If you don’t come out tonight when the moon is bright

I’m gonna knock and ring and tap until you do

I’m gonna knock and ring and tap and knock and ring and tap and knock and ring and tap and knock and ring until you do

Okay, the DJ thing was corny.:P I was going to upload an accompanying mp3, but the copy I downloaded turned out to be a virus. I knew free stuff online are too good to be true.@_@

Winning Pitch

Friday, July 13th, 2007

Most of the buses I ride to work are now equipped with these LCD screens that show these commercials and music videos. Funny, because a lot (and I mean a lot) of ‘em are Electrolux products, so, being the crazy girl that I am, I decided to post the lyrics of the Electrolux jingle that was such a hit in the 90s.:P I don’t know if they won any awards with this, but I do know that it’s based on an actual song, I just don’t know what it’s called.@_@ Probably made the poor Electrolux salesmen have major “song stuck in head” syndrome though.

I’m gonna knock on your door,

Ring on your bell

Tap on your window too

So why don’t you open your door

So I can show you more?

I’m your friendly Electrolux man! *imagine hand waving*

That was in the 90s. Now, if a total stranger asked me to go and open my door, I’d probably run screaming for the cops.:P
