Before the new millennium, there was a town called Halfway, Oregon. And then came 1999. Half.com suddenly appeared on their doorsteps and convinced the mayor to change the name of their city in honor of the site. In exchange, they offered financial support. Come January 19, 2000, the town welcomed a new name: Half.com, Oregon.

Honestly, this is the first time I’ve heard of a dot com city. Know of any other places out there (present in both the cyber- and real worlds?)
