What About Sneezes?

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Since we know who experienced the longest period of time of having the hiccups, how about sneezes?

The dubious honor goes to Donna Griffith, who started January 1981 and finally ended on September 16, 1983, for a grand total of 978 days.

I wonder how the world records people do it? Do they stand beside these people until they stop sneezing/coughing/hiccuping while holding a timer in their hands?@_@

TV Watching is Good for You

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Approximately 1-2 calories are burned a minute while watching T.V.

Yeah, but when have you ever watched TV without munching on anything, anyway?

*Hic*

Monday, September 8th, 2008

What’s the longest period of time that you had the hiccups? Believe it or not, there are worse cases than your experience. Take a look at a man named Charles Osborne, who started hiccuping when he was 28 years old - and only stopped 69 years later!

Poor guy. I can’t even take hiccuping for 60 seconds, let alone 69 years.

Joseph Figlock and the Poor Babies

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

In Detroit in 1937, Joseph Figlock, who was working as a street sweeper, was furbishing up an alley when a baby fell from a fourth-story window and landed on him. While Joseph was injured, both of them survived.

One year later, Joseph was out sweeping again, busy as can be, when two-year old David Thomas fell on him, also coming from a fourth-story window. Again, while Joseph was injured, both he and the toddler survived the incident.

Is there a "Land on Me" sign on Joseph Figlock that he wasn’t aware of?

Now this is more likely.

Of Goats and Horses

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

The expression "getting someone’s goat" is based on the custom of keeping a goat in the stable with a racehorse as the horse’s companion. Interestingly, the goat calms down and watches over the horse if they’re together in the same stable. Cheaters or rivals steal their opponent’s goat to upset the horse and make it run a poor race.

So there’s harmony in the bleats and neighs, eh?
