Truth is Stranger than Fiction Alright

Friday, June 20th, 2008

In Bridgeport, Connecticut, a man got arrested after he ordered his pet to attack two officers. It would’ve worked - if not for the fact that his Fido is actually a 9-foot python.

Police went to 21-year-old Victor Rodriguez’s place when they received a report saying he threatened his girlfriend with his pet albino python. When they showed up on his doorstep, the guy apparently sic-ed his snake on them, but the reptile probably didn’t feel like moving, and didn’t obey his master.

Both Rodriguez and his pet were eventually taken away. Rodriguez was brought to a jail, and the python to an animal control shelter.

Balloons!

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

The fastest time to create one balloon dog sculpture is 6.5 seconds by John Cassidy (USA) at the Balloon Saloon store in New York, USA on 28 March 2006.

Speaking of records…

Here’s hoping Firefox will win in their attempt to winning the most downloads record!

Everybody Loves Pizza

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

… Especially this guy. Tom Waes holds the world record for having the fastest time eating a 12″ pizza. He downed the entire thing in 19.91 seconds on December 2, 2006 in Belgium.

And he did that with a knife and fork, too. Yep, that’s reportedly him in the picture.

Here Fishy, Fishy

Monday, June 16th, 2008

I saw this on this site, and I thought I’d share it with you.:D Most text and pictures came from the site I got it from. My comments are in italics, as I’d usually put them.

Ten of the Strangest Things Caught Fishing

  1. Two-Headed Fish

It’s what the site called it anyway. From how I see it, it’s more of two-bodied than two-headed, but what do I know, right?:P

  2. Rare Blue Lobster

Steve Hatch and his Uncle Robert Green caught the one-and-a-half pound blue lobster in traps placed at the mouth of the Thames River in New London, Conn.
The chance of catching a blue lobster is literally one in a million. The cause of its color is apparently a genetic mutation.

  3. Extinct Fish Caught

A coelacanth, a fish with a three-lobed tail, many fins, and thought to be extinct, was caught in Tanzania last year, on July 17, 2007. Just be thankful it wasn’t a pleiosaur, or Nessie will have competition.
  4. Baby Great White in Martha’s Vineyard
On July 2002, a baby great white shark was seen in Menemsha Harbor in Martha’s vineyard. Maybe it wanted to go star-seeing?
  5. California Fisherman Catches Piranha

Jerry Melton was fishing in the Catawba River in Gaston County when he caught this 1.25 lb piranha. Apparently piranha is illegal to own in North Carolina, and the fish was obviously dumped into the river when its owner got sick of it. The piranha is not native to the US and could not have been found in NC naturally. Care to guess which one got the bite?
  6. Chimera Lobster

A lobster fisherman found this strange creature in Bar Harbor, Maine. Half of it looked typical. The other half looks normal as well - if it had already been boiled and cooked to be eaten. The fisherman donated the lobster to Mount Desert Oceanearium, where he was informed the odds of finding such a chimera are one in 50 million to 100 million. So is this what they meant by half-cooked?
  7. Baby Alligator in New Hampshire

Anthony Grauslys, a 40 year old recreational fisherman caught an 18 inch 1 year old alligator while fishing in the Nashua River, and he needed the help of three policemen to contain the gator. His bait? A rubber worm. It’s the early gator that catches the rubber worm, I guess.
  8. A Human Scuba Diver

As unbelievable as it may sound, a Dutch scuba diver was hooked by the lure of a 13 year old boy fishing in the Netherlands. The boy cast his line and his hook apparently caught the lip of a man named Wim van Huffelen, while diving in the North Sea. The man was quoted as saying “I heard a sound on my head and immediately felt a jerk on my lip.” Talk about a one in a million shot. What more can I say?
  9. 300lb Fishie

The fish, caught in Thailand and unable to be weighed, is most likely the biggest fish in the Carp family to be caught, ever. The world record for any member of the carp family, including goldfish is 88lbs. This fish broke the scales at over 260lbs. Apparently, many Thailanders would sell their soul for such a once in a lifetime catch, but these fisherman nearly lost the monster who after being caught kept slapping people with its tail. If the fish you’re trying to reel in is heavier than you, you know you’re in trouble.
  10. Alien Fish
Village residents from the Rostov region of Russia caught a weird creature two years ago after a strong storm in the Sea of Azov. The shark-looking creature was producing strange squeaky sounds. The fishermen originally believed that they had caught an alien and decided to film it with the help of a cell phone camera. The footage clearly shows the creatures’ head, body and long tail. The bizarre catch was weighing almost 100 kilograms, the Komsomolskaya Pravda reports.
However, ufologists and scientists were greatly disappointed when they found out that the fishermen had eaten the monster. They said that they were not scared of the creature so they decided to use it as food. One of the men said that it was the most delicious dish he had ever eaten. Wonder what ET fish tasted like?
