The Blarney Stone
The Blarney stone is a block of bluestone (even if it isn’t blue) and a prominent Irish symbol. According to legend, whoever kisses the stone would endow that person the gift of gab.
As Irish bard Francis Sylvester Mahony wrote,
- “There is a stone there,
- That whoever kisses,
- Oh, he never misses
- To grow eloquent.
- ‘Tis he may clamber
- To a lady’s chamber,
- Or become a member
- Of Parliament.”
- That whoever kisses,
Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!
