Coro Coro Volleyball

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

Aaaargh! There’s this new game here on Sanrio Town, and I can’t get into the Top Five Players list!

coroball2.jpg

See? That’s the highest score I have, and the lowest on the list is 625. I never realized how important 19 points are. Here I was, thinking it’s just another prime number, when all of a sudden this game pops up and mocks me with that much difference just so I can claim a spot on the list.@_@

Anyway, for those who don’t know this game, it’s called Coro Coro Volleyball. Kuririn and his girlfriend are playing modified volleyball  (please don’t ask me why they’re using a pineapple - I don’t know myself why two tiny hamsters would opt to play with a fruit that can squish them). I’m playing as Kuririn. You can only play as Sakura if you claim dibs on using her when you play with a friend on two-player mode; otherwise, you’re with Kuririn if you’re playing against the computer (or if you lost the argument on who gets to play the hamster with the flower on her head).

Anyway, that’s all for today’s post. I’ll go back to try and beating the score now.

Not Tom, Dick, and Harry, but…

Cid, Biggs, and Wedge are names that have been used in a lot of the Final Fantasy games. The funny thing is, they’re not always the same person, but different character’s who’ve shared the same names! Biggs and Wedge have always been partners/teammates though.:p

Biggs and Wedge

These characters are named as homage to the Star Wars characters Biggs Darklighter and Wedge Antilles.

FF6: Biggs and Wedge were a pair of Vector soldiers who were eventually killed by an Esper

FF7: They were part of a n eco-fighting group (AVALANCHE) who died when President Shinra orders the pillars of their section in Midgar to be destroyed

FFVIII: They were a pair of Galbadian soldiers who battled the main characters, but also provided some comic relief

FFX, FX-2 and FFXII: They were guards for some place or the other

There were also Biggs and Wedge characters in Chro Trigger, Kingdom Hearts II, and Chobo’s Dungeon 2.

*phew*

Cid

He appears usually as a middle-aged guy (whether playable or non-playable) who is, more often than not, an owner, creator, mechanic, or pilot/driver, usually of an airship.

I don’t know why his name is carried in the FF games though.:/

Turtle in a Half-Shell, Turtle Power

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

I got today’s post idea from Tingal.:P She mentioned in passing that she doesn’t like Ninja Turtles that much (sniff).

I do, though, so I decided to feature my favorite turtle of the bunch: Raphael!

I loved him in the old cartoons, not only because red was my favorite color, but also because he has the most wicked sense of humor.:P Unlike Michelangelo, who’s fun-loving and who cracks jokes for the sheer joy of it, Raph is sarcastic and witty, which I really love.:D He wields a pair of sai, said to be one of the most difficult weapons to master.

I decided to follow his character on the Internet sometime back, and it turned out that in the comics, he was the “bad sheep” of the group, angsty and a bit of a loner. This made me like him even more, since most of the characters I’ve loved are the borderline ones. Theories state that he’s mildly jealous that Leonardo (the oldest of the brothers) is the leader and not him, but he’d still follow him. He is really loyal to his family, and would go on a rampage if one of them gets hurt. He is closest to Michelangelo, the baby of the four. He is arguably the strongest and the best fighter of the brothers.

In the 2007 movie, his angst was more emphasized as compared to the cartoons, being resentful towards Leonardo for leaving them. He took on the disguise of Nightwatcher to continue crime-fighting while Michelangelo and Donatello try out “regular jobs.” What’s funny is that his build, his accent, and his attitude kind of reminds one of a gangster who’s willing to beat up anyone at the slightest provocation.

Just realized: that doesn’t put him in a good light, does it?@_@ I still love him though, and also because of these things.:D He might have an attitude, but when it comes to tight situations, you know you can count on him, because he’s still good.:D

In closing, here are the lyrics of the song from the old cartoons:

Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Heroes in a half shell, turtle power
They’re the worlds most fearsome fighting teens
[ we’re really hip ]

They’re heroes in a half shell and they’re green
[ hey, get a grip ]
When the evil shredder attacks
These turtle boys don’t cut him no slack

Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Teenage mutant ninja turtles

Splinter taught them to be ninja teens
[ he’s a radical rat ]
Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines
[ that’s a fact, Jack ]
Raphael iscool but rude
Michaelangelo is a party dude
Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Heroes in a half shell, turtle power

Idea: Maybe I should feature my favorite characters from time to time here? :D

Poor Lefties

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Right handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people do.

What about me? I’m semi-ambidextrous (meaning, my mom got me used to writing with my right hand when I was younger that I can no longer write with my left - unless I doodle. I can perform other stuff better with my left though, especially in sports.@_@)

What’s a Tinsmith?@_@

Tim, the thin twin tinsmith.

It’s official: I have a problem pronouncing “T”s and “Th”s. I get them all jumbled up. Woe is me.:(
