The Whole Art Commission Issue
So I mainly illustrated a plushie for a player in HKO the other day as you can see here: http://hko.forums.aeriagames.com/viewtopic.php?t=3127
And as you can see in a couple of posts, someone attempted to make their own.
When someone mentioned that we both should start doing commissions, I kind of felt really awful about the whole idea.
I’ve had several of my chances of doing commissions taken away because another person was inspired by me to do them. I didn’t do anything about it because I didn’t want to start arguments or have a “competition”. …and I really hate being competitive with people.
I probably seem stubborn at the moment, but honestly.. I’ve never done any commissions for any online game. I know that it’s just a game and I should earn my own money by just playing it. I know that the whole idea of illustrating plushies isn’t original…
…but I’m seriously getting sick and tired of being too nice and giving up everything to people. I just want to do something for myself… just this once. I don’t just want to do this so I can benefit myself in the game, but I also want to do it so I can improve on my art.
I can confront the person who might start doing commissions, but she’s possibly younger than me and I’m afraid that I might end up arguing with either a whiny pre-teen or a smarter teenager than myself. I don’t know her really so I shouldn’t judge, but I’m terrible at having people compromise to the way I want them to.

If you really want to do them, I encourage you. Commissions are a great way of improving art while also bringing joy to other people. It doesn’t have to be a competition. ^^
