You don't have to like them, but you can't really hate them if you want to study astronomy. If you can't change it, it can become a serious problem. I'm on computer science and we probably have less of that but there were few people who left the school because of that. On the other hand I know a lot of people who hated math in school and loved it in college. Maybe you just need to find someone who will explain this to you in a better way than your teachers.
