If you were missing those quick links…

I know some of you have told me that you missed the quick links posts…Well the quick links aren’t coming back because I no longer have the time to do them. I’m sorry :P

So I’m giving you my google reader’s shared page instead here - http://www.google.com/reader/shared/12235451948554658485 or you can also click on the Shared links link under ★Latest Happenings★ on the right navigation.

It’ll get updated now and then… I can’t promise that I’ll be very regular though. Heh :P

ripplecloud in Hong Kong/Macau

Went to Hong Kong in December with the family. It was our first time there so we basically hit the tourist traps. It was a lot of fun but also pretty exhausting walking around the whole day :P. My toe still feels numb :(. Anyway, I was sorting through the environmental pictures, and this is sort of the digital index of the pictures I have. Photo spam ahead!

pictures of Hong Kong

Hong Kong from top
row 1
- I love the old buildings with geometric or repeated shapes and patterns that attract the eye.
row 2 - I seldom travel around X’mas and in my country we were never too hot about decorative lights and stuff on buildings so the light up of the buildings that form the city skyline was a novelty to me
row 2-3, column 3 -I happened to see statue/clay figurine of famous kungfu legends
row 3-6 - We spent an obscene amount of money on food. But then it seems food is in general slightly more expensive in Hong Kong anyway. Although the gap is closing I dare say.
row 6-9 - Lalala, wax people at Madam Taussauds on the Peak. It looks like Einstein and LKY had a tiff and are ignoring each other :P
row 10 - view from the peak
row 11 -  we took the ferry to Hong Kong Island, switched bus and tram to get to the peak
row 12 - signage reminiscent of John Lennon and Yoko Ono?, night markets (pretty pervasive around the region so it’s a familiar sight)
row 13 - if you are not familiar with Carrie Chau, she’s pretty awesome :) (although my mom thinks its ugly heehee… generation gap.)

Ocean Park
I never really thought about visiting Hong Kong at all. There are lots more exciting places to go to really… like India wahahahaha.. Anyway, it seemed like a relatively safe and easy place to bring my mother and brother to. To be honest, I was too busy to read up about any of the tourist spots, so it was a surprise to me that Ocean Park had other stuff besides the aquarium and the amusement rides.
row 1 - what kind of a fish is this?? o_0
row 2-3 - I was particularly taken by the birds’ colourful plummage in the aviary, very lovely colours.
row 4 - the seals were particularly animated when fighting for food :P
row 4-5, column 3 - Ocean Park is built on a cliff, should be pretty exhilarating to be on that ride on a cliff?
row 5, column 2 - the seal and dolphin show was awesome
row 5 and 7, column 1; row 6 - more aquarium shots. The aquarium is basically a HUGE tank that is about 3 storeys tall. It looks a little overcrowded with all those giant fishes.
Last row - There is only one way to travel from one part of the park on the cliff to another part on lower ground and that is by a fairly long cable car ride that spanned across hillslopes. I would like to see that image in one of Miyazaki’s animation perhaps :P

Macau
row 1-3  - various indoor shots of the Venetian, a luxurious hotel-resort. I did not stay there but it was a nice place to be trigger happy.
row 3-5, column 3 - various outdoor shots of Venetian. It was visually impressive because it was the only tall building on its island.
Other photos - random impressions of the older parts of town and food.
Last row, cloumn 3 - Cheap Granny shoes!! to replace my worn out shoes xD …I am amused by the brand - 福妈妈 - which translates to “Fortune Mama”… auspicious :P muahahahaha!

ripplecloud at Formula 1 :D

ripplecloud's Formula 1 pictures at Singapore Grand Prix 2008

Thought I’d share some pictures, in case anyone is interested at all :P. Heehee. The cars were really loud, so loud my eardrums trembled, even with earplugs!

It was qualifying night, and Ferrari’s Felipe Massa sped ahead at the last … I can’t even say second XD… to clinch the pole position at 0.664seconds just ahead of McClaren’s Lewis Hamilton.

It was a fun race to watch, even if this was just the qualifying round. Force India crashed twice at the same spot! While Renault’s Fernando Alonso, who clocked the fastest times during the training session yesterday dropped of the race altogether too early during the 2nd qualifying round!

P/S: Check out the huge butterfly that attended the event!

Introducing Rockatoot the Spore Creature

rockatoot the spore creatureI finally found time to download and try out the Spore creature creator, so here are some pictures of Rockatoot the Spore Creature I made ^^.

OK, I admit rockatoot is not as cool as some of the other lean and mean creatures made by members of the spore community such as the X-Terros, Tighirab, Pirahnis and the Snowy Camueb.

In fact, rockatoot reminds me of… … the muppets, wahahahahaha! Oh well…

I do still like rockatoot ^^ If you haven’t notice, I like cheery, colourful things alot. Rockatoot looks like he can be a pretty careless creature, so I gave him kneegaurds, just in case he falls down too often. Also, lots of horns atop his head to protect his brain, because intelligence is his only advantage to outwit the lean and mean creatures out there and protect his soft, flabby, fleshy belly, muahahahahahaha…

Oh look! rockatoot has babies ^^

Oh look Rockatoot spore creature babies!

Now rockatoot and family are going to perform a song and dance! ^^

And here’s how spore creatures are made in the Spore Creature Creator:

That’s all for now. Maybe I will make a wierder creature when I am bored one day :P…

Running

I am not a sporty person but I do use to do some light work out and run fairly regularly. But then there was always disruptions, like a whole week of raining or just falling sick. The last time this happened, I just lost momentum and stopped altogether :(… And I have to say, starting again is the hardest. Sometimes I feel so unfit that I don’t even want to face huffing and puffing along the running path. Today, it was the rain (yet again.)

I’m not overweight, but just the feeling of knowing my body could be in a better condition does get me down. So yes, I am sleeping real early tonight and heading out for my first run in many months ^^ Maybe one day I will feel confident enough to enter a marathon too muahahaha…

*Note: Some swearing in the video. If you prefer not to be exposed to language that is none to delicate or if you are underage, may I suggest you check out more wholesome kitty-ness in the new Quick Links post instead^^
