Blog Guide: Sticky Posts

What is a sticky post?

A sticky post is a term used for forums, mostly. It is a thread that is at the top of the forum (for the SanrioTown forums, it is those posts with a cupcake next to it).

What a sticky post does, is bring attention first and foremost to that post. In forums, these are usually posts about rules, announcements, or perhaps guides of some sort.

For blogs they are similar and different. The main similarity, is that you want your readers to see the sticky post first. Perhaps it’s just a note about your blog, or a table of contents. Whatever it is, you want everyone to see it first, before any of your other posts.


How to do a sticky post in your blog?

There are two ways to do a sticky post.

Way One: Set your default blog page to a ‘Home’ page, and not the most recent blog posts. What you get when you do that (and do it right), is something like the following blog:


As you can see, BunnyWix does a wonderful job giving links to places she wants people to look at. As well as a "Most Recent Posts" link, which links to the blog posts she’s made this past year.

To do this, go to your Blog Dashboard and click on "Options" and then "Reading".

You want to concentrate on the first section, the "Front Page".

Click on "A static page" and then select a page from the drop down menu (blue-boxed in the picture above) and choose the page that you want to be the page everyone goes to when they go to your blog. Once you’ve done that, click on "Update Options" and you’re done! Be sure to remember to link to your most recent blog posts if you want people to read them!

Way Two: Act like you’re going to post a regular blog post, but since you want this post
