Tags vs. Categories

You mean there’s a difference? *snorts*

That’s what I thought until recently. My sidebar to the right was so very long because I considered the categories tags and usually have around 5 tags each post. Sadly, they are different.

The good news about that is I can reduce the clutter to my sidebar and as you can see *points* I have!

Special thanks to this blog here for helping me learn about it.

Do you want to start tagging your blog posts? I highly recommend you read the above blog, but it’s real simple!

Simply add something like:

<font color="purple"><strong>Tags:</strong></font><a href="http://blog.sanriotown.com/user:hellokitty.com/index.php?s=anime">anime</a>

To the end of each of your posts! Of course, be sure to replace “user” with your user name and hellokitty.com with whatever domain your e-mail is (hellokitty, mymelody, kuririnmail).

Of course, this means you’ll either need to remember this each time or create a .txt file with a list of all your tags. I did the second one, personally.

    Now if only the tags were helpful so others can find the blog easily…like from Google search engines.

    Thanks! I was the opposite: using tags only instead of categories. Perhaps I will use both soon.

    @victor5: Hmm, I suppose I should say the difference between tags. I consider my tags to be search tags, in that they search my blog for those keywords. Why would I want google to find my blog? I really don’t talk about much…XP

    @vigs: You’re welcome! \o/
