Dr. Naomi Bennet
Four-time Tony winner for Broadway, Audra McDonald was cast as Dr. Naomi Bennet, which was played by Merrin Dungey during the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off.
The replacement was said to be a sort of “fine-tuning” for the show. I’m not really sure what that meant.
Last I heard, they were looking for someone who had a better chemistry with Kate Walsh.
Hmm… Does that mean that Merrin Dungey didn’t connect well with Kate Walsh? Was there a sort of argument?
I’m trying to find out but so far, the sites I’ve visited makes no mention of this.

Dear Private Practice a.k.a Raein haha
I believe that the role was recasted since many fans did not buy her friendship with Addison. I did notice that something was off in their scenes together.
While Grey’s casts were selected simply because of their on-screen chemistry, for PP’s pilot, Shonda got the actors who still had contracts with ABC. So maybe that’s why. I feel sad for Merrin Dungey though. I haven’t read her responds about this.

Haha. No no, Raein, you’re the best girl for this blog! XD
I didn’t watch Alias but apparently many people love Merrin Dungey there. For some reasons she is always unlucky as her character was written off the show, getting canceled, and now this…

Yeah! And for some reason, Alias always pops up when you search her name or anything written about her!
