UVERchan is a mysterious creature that David Horvath created. UVERchan is the invisible 6th member of the Japanese band, UVERworld that plays the role of the mascot. It takes the shape of a bear with bat-like black wings so sometimes he/she is called UVERbear. XD

UVERchan has taken a lot of forms and color. He/She has also been made into plushies, cellphone bags, and t-shirt designs.

The merchandise is very rare and exclusive to Japan. Sony protects this character and if you see pictures of the merchandise, they’re usually distorted to protect the exclusivity of the merchandise.

Unfortunately, the manufacturers in China created more of the Japan-exclusive plush dolls and was sold in other countries. So you’ll probably be seeing them in eBay once in awhile.

WOW! Such a wonderful sight! I wish I have personally seen this. This was probably taken at one of those big Toy Conventions. I actually envy those who can attend the world’s finest Toy Conventions. Hehe. One of these days~!

Here’s a very intelligent Uglydoll. No matter how hard she tried to fail, she still gets an A! LOL! That’s the opposite for most of us…no matter how hard we study we still get low grades. I wish I had Puglee around when I was studying.

"Puglee is super smart. How can you tell? You know how they say if you get really good grades, you’ll have a better shot at getting a really great job? Well Puglee figured out that a great way to avoid getting a job was to get the worst possible grades ever! Only an F- would do. But here’s the problem… Puglee LOVES to read, write, and count. So she gets all A’s no matter how hard she tries! Puglee is also smart enough to know that life isn’t about getting a grade. It’s about the  special bond she now has with you."

Hahaha! This is sooo true! How pets tend to look like their owners and even inherit traits and habits from them. XD

"You know how everyone looks like their pet? Well, Babo looks just like his pet peeve! BIRDS! Babo can’t stand birds! They always eat the crumbs his cookies leave behind! Well, too bad because one bird has taken a liking to Babo and now likes to call him mommy.

Sounds serious, right? And Babo doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. So now Babo’s Bird is…Babo’s bird. Luckily Babo doesn’t have shoulders either. Have any cookie crumbs?"

Ohhh, he likes cars. I think Poe and I will get along very well.  Then we’ll eat ice cream while window shopping for cars. XD

I found out a few days ago that Uglydoll Toodee has been retired. I’m glad that I adopted one. The reason behind the retirement was not because people doesn’t love him. In fact, he is very well-loved, all Uglies are.

Anyway, a few weeks ago, I was browsing our nearby designer toy store and saw a figure named Toodee from the Yo Gabba Gabba series. Apparently, Yo Gabba Gabba has a TV show. So, here’s the story why they had to let go Uglydoll Toodee:

"The final word on TooDee is that our friends decided to produce a TV show with a guy named TooDee. We didn’t get in trouble. They didn’t get in trouble. Neither of us knew the other was working on something with the name "TooDee" in it. It was just in the air. So we decided to retire TooDee out of respect for our friends show, which would have been VERY expensive to re-shoot at that point. I am sure they would do the same for us next time."

Goodbye Uglydoll Toodee! You will always be in our hearts!

Giant Robot is proud to host Deharavath, a group art show featuring the work of Yukinori Dehara, David Horvath, and Sun-Min Kim. (April 19-May 14, 2008)

David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim are best known for creating of UglyDolls, the indie plush dolls that have gained a rabid worldwide following and sparked a movement of cool handmade toys. While Yukinori Dehara is known for his hand-painted clay depictions of debauched salarymen, brutalized gangsters, happy monsters, and other unique figures stand about 5-inches tall.

For this show, the duo is making one-of-a-kind framed prints, drawings, paintings, and handmade plush surprises. Horvath and Kim promise that everything will be all new, including a special Ice Bat kaiju figure made in conjunction with Dehara.

Yey! I got my very own Uglycon 2007 Icebat plushie. Apparently sold out last year, but my brother was able to get me one at a cheap price. I want more Uglies! Hehe. Preferably vinyl figures.

My current mission is to collect all color-ways released for the Uglydolls Kaiju, but I’m having a hard time with the clear pink version of Icebat. I hope I can get that. It’s pretty rare. @_@

Oh boy, next in line is Wage Kaiju, and he has another rare color-way which is the solid green one. Oh the hurt in my pocket! XD

Designer toy makers really love releasing variants. Collectors go crazy when they hear news of a new edition or color variant coming out. I’m a collector so I know that feeling very well. Hehe.
