New year - new hobby

Lately I’ve become more and more interested in photography. But it seems (to me at least) so is everyone else. But I don’t want to be like everyone else lol.

I make do with my digital camera but I would love to get a really nice digital SLR camera. Unfortunately the ones I want are slightly expensive *sigh*

Luckily I can afford to specialize in lomography. What is lomography you ask? Lomography is casual snapshot photography. Usually the cameras used are considered “toy” cameras. Characteristics of pictures are: over-saturated colors, off-kilter exposure, blurring and/or “happy accidents”. For more information, click here.

The motto is “Don’t think, just shoot”. xD Sounds good to me.

The ten golden rules

1. Take your LOMO everywhere you go.
2. Use it anytime — day or night.
3. Lomography is not an interference in your life, but a part of it.
4. Shoot from the hip.
5. Approach the objects of your lomographic desire as close as possible.
6. Don’t think.
7. Be fast.
8. You don’t have to know beforehand what you’ve captured on film.
9. You don’t have to know afterwards, either.
10. Don’t worry about the rules.

There’s different cameras that are part of the LOMO family:

Fisheye (like a fish bowl)

ActionSampler (4 lenses arranged in a square)

Color Splash (color tinted)

SuperSampler (4 lenses arranged in a row)

Oktomat (8 lenses 4×2)

POP9 (9 lenses 3×3)

Diana
Holga
Lomo Kompakt Automat

I’ve ordered the Color Splash and the SuperSampler - just waiting on UPS to deliver them now and I hope to upload the pictures that I will be taking soon
