Yesterday I spent all night on the epic quest of searching for my favorite web comic ever, Project-Y. For hours, I searched the Internet for my beloved webcomic and I seemed to find nothing, it was like it never existed, that is, until today…

Being that project-y’s site was down, I searched for it on http://web.archive.org/. After a few clickings here and there, I found it. I found my favorite site ever. I really am happy! I wll go through all the archives again!

Oh, project-y, I can’t afford to loose you again!

These are a couple of comics that I came up with at school…

I’m embarrassing! I should be doing homework! Instead of that I spent all afternoon making comics and  watching “The Young and The Damned”! I’m so lazy!>_<

It’s been a year since my last post, and obviously, things have changed a lot. Now, for lack of a better thing to do, I will update you about my life.

1.- First of all, I just finished secondary school (in Mexico, so that would be 7th to 9th grade) with good grades (9.63/10) and was accepted in  Preparatory (kind of like High School, from 10th to 12th grade). I’m not sure how school system works in other countries, but in Mexico, we have to take a test to be accepted in secondary and preparatory. I was kind of stressed out weeks before the test for preparatory, I had all this final exams, and lots of homework, I couldn’t find time to study. I seriously thought I would be rejected.

2.- I read some of my previous posts and I must say, THEY SUCK. I am so embarrassed. It’s a good thing that only two people read them (OK, maybe three).

3.- Quoting one of my old posts:

I can’t imagine myself in a career that doesn’t involve drawing and designing things by myself; maybe even making comics.

This is wrong, forget that I even said that. All I want to do for the rest of my life is making comics. Seriously, there is no other thing that I want to do.

“Lately I been trying to write some songs (…) I also write poetry”

Not anymore, it’s all about the drawings and the comics now.

4.- On that same post, I wrote a lists of all the artists I like. I would like to add:

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, The Depreciation Guild, Architecture in Helsinki, Junior Senior, Be Your Own Pet, Au Revoir Simone, Elevator to Hell, The Bird and the Bee, Matt and Kim, The Brunettes, The Thermals, We Smoke Fags, Tilly and the Wall, The Spinto Band, Shout Out Louds, Suburban Kids With Biblical Names, New Young Pony Club, Los Campesinos! and many other bands that I am too lazy to write down (maybe in another post).

I would also like to remove some bands. Namely The Organ. I don’t remember them, I don’t know what they play, I don’t know how they made it into the list.

5.- And now that we are into the “not remembering things” subject,  in my “comics&stuff” post, I mentioned a comic called Foreign Exchange whose creator name I couldn’t remember. Well, not only I can’t remember the artist/writer, I now have no clue of what comic I was talking about. I don’t remember a thing about it and the internet is not helping.

6.-And finally, the list of my favorite comics has changed significantly, and I will re-do it later.

So that’s it for now, I was going to post some pictures of me finally graduating of my lame school, but I figured that could be another posts.

One of the things I enjoy doing the most is reading comics. It’s easier than reading a book (which I also enjoy doing) and it can be a very educational experience. Ok, that depends on which comics you read. Anyway, it’s cool. So this are my comic-faves so far…
My favorite comics of all times:

1. Blue Monday - Chynna Clugston

Hell yeah. This is the first graphic novel that my innocent hands ever touched, held and felt. It was also my introduction to graphic novels and the great world that comics are. It is also funny as hell. Chynna Clugston is a great artist and an ingenious comic creator. This is totally worth reading even if you are not really interested in comics.

2. Fantastic Butterflies - James Kochalka

Actually everything by James Kochalka is freakin’ awesome, but this is the first graphic novel by him that I read. It has some great art and it can be enjoyed by E V E R Y O N E.

3 . Scott Pilgrim - Bryan Lee O’Malley

Drama, humor, fights, love triangles, good music, great style, and cool art. All in this awesome graphic novel by Bryan Lee O’Malley.

Honorable Mentions:

Sharknife - Corey Lewis

This is not the best [graphic novel] I’ve ever read, but the art is just AWESOME. Corey Lewis is definitively one of my biggest influences (although my drawings are crap compared to his) right after Chynna Clugston & James Kochalka. Plus, Corey Lewis is H-O-T.

See what i mean?

Calvin & Hobbes - Bill Watterson

awwwww!!! this is so funny and cute!!! (that’s all i have to say)

Further Grickle - Graham Annable

This is an awesome alternative comic. Not the best art, but definitively ingenious.

Other great comics:

Emo Boy - Steve Emond.

Foreign Exchange - by some guy whose name i can’t remember.

WEB COMICS

Player vs. Player - Scott Kurtz

PVP is simply FANTASTIC! Seriously, it’s funny as hell. It’s got fart jokes, nerd jokes, gamers jokes, really obscure pop culture jokes, panda attacks, a little romance and a huge 500 pound blue troll. What else do we need?

Project-y - Daniel Mankoff…or something…and some other guy…

Okay, the things is that this a web comic that started a few years ago and there hasn’t been a new comic strip for about three years ago or something, their web page doesn’t even exist anymore. That’s a shame because it was an extremely funny comic strip. I don’t remember the names of the creators. In the comic strip, they were called Dave and Dan, I think their real names are David something and Daniel Mankoff, but I’m not sure.

So, that’s it. What a long post, but i think it’s worth it, and about the last post, the whole people-being-mad-at-me thing just got fixed…I think.
