Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning

Friday, August 13th, 2010

The protagonist of Final Fantasy XIII, Lightning is deemed an adversary of the humankind, having been chosen by the Crystals to bring about the end of the world. Codenamed Lightning, her true name to most people. Lightning appears as a seemingly cold and distant lady with long, strawberry blond hair and ice-blue eyes. She has a solitary and lonewolf attitude, much like that of Final Fantasy VIII’s Squall Leonhart.

Final Fantasy: Black Mage and White Mage!

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

Have you ever dreamed of turning somebody into a frog? Or do you think it would be amazing if you could shock baddies with electrifying bolts of thundaga and hurl sizzling balls of firaga at bird-brained bullies? If you think so, then you must be a Black Mage at heart! The “Black Mage” is one of the most famous and iconic character classes in the Final Fantasy franchise. Traditionally depicted as dark figures wearing blue or black robes and wide-brimmed hats that shadowed their faces save for their gleaming yellow eyes, Black Mages inspired awe and fear in the Final Fantasy games. They possess a wide selection of elemental spells that they can cast to wreak havoc in the battlefield and obliterate anyone who dares to cross their way.

Alodia Gosiengfiao, a Filipina Cosplayer, combined hotness and magic by cosplaying as a sexy black mage, deviating from the traditional black mages such as Final Fantasy IX’s Vivi Orunitia, yet retaining some costume elements that made her look like one undeniably. It would be amazing to see her bake people with magic!

That’s not all, though! Ashley Gosiengfiao, Alodia’s sister, also participated in the cosplay as a White Mage—a mage specializing on recuperative and support magicks!

White Mages in Final Fantasy are usually seen in immaculate white robes with hoods pulled over their heads, featuring red, triangular patterns on the cuffs of their sleeves and the hems of their robes. These sisters make an excellent magical tag-team, don’t you think so?

Final Fantasy X/Dissidia: Jecht

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Blitzball prodigy, plus manliness, plus a laidback appeal—these qualities make Jecht one of the more popular villains in the Final Fantasy series. Legendary blitzball superstar Jecht appears in Final Fantasy X as the main antagonist and in Final Fantasy Dissidia as a warrior serving Chaos, the God of Discord. He appears as a tall and muscular bronzed man wielding a nasty black sword, possessing a penchant for liquor and a tendency to drink too heavily. While actually kind-hearted, Jecht comes off as overtly cocky and arrogant, referring to himself as the “Great Jecht” and occasionally proclaims himself to be the best blitzball player there is.

Well, the man was a blitzball celebrity, after all—famed and legendary for refining his own blitzball technique “Sublimely Magnificent Jecht Shot Mark III” (or simply “The Jecht Shot”)—until his career hit a slump and he resorted to drinking like a maddened drunkard. Jecht is also the father of the FFX protagonist Tidus, who claims to hate his dad for putting him and his mother through difficult times, and for leaving him under a lot of pressure living up to the blitzball phenomenon that was his father, Jecht.

Jecht is unsympathetically critical of Tidus, but he does so to push his son to try harder and disprove him. The cosplayer, Defran, chose to make the “bronze god” come alive and he does so marvelously!

Check out that nasty flaming sword!

Final Fantasy: Moogle 02

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

Seeing cute Moogles really brightens up my day. I like all of their appearances, but my most favorite are the really round ones from Crystal Chronicles.

This particular Moogle though has caught my attention. Check the cutie out! Her curiosity with the Final Fantasy game has really added a lot of appeal in this full of cuteness cosplay.

Ready to sleep or ready to play? What do you think?

Final Fantasy: Chocobo

baby chocobo

Another cool costume made by Khiorii and this time it’s the all time favorite Chocobo.

Chocobos are large and flightless birds that appear in the Final Fantasy series. Player characters can ride them.  They dwell in forests and are timid and vicious when threatened, but when tamed by Gysahl Greens they act as vehicles. They are also used as war mounts, assisting the riders with their beaks and claws

The baby (Khiorii’s daughter) really fell asleep during the photoshoot making this an absolutely adorable cosplay.

Final Fantasy: Moogle

This is absolutely adorable! Awesome combination of kupo-ness and cuteness. XD

Moogles are a recurring race in the Final Fantasy series. They’re fluffy, have bat-like wings and sports a pom-pom on their heads. They have different roles on each game, like being a save point, a playable character, a summon, etc.

This cute cosplay was made by Khiorii. The Moogle character really suits the baby. Great combination of a cute costume and a cute model.

Final Fantasy Advent Children: Cloud Strife

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Now, you may have seen a lot of Cloud cosplays out there (and a few from this blog) but I’m neither talking about how accurate his costume nor how perfect his build is for Cloud Strike.

I’m talking about the hair.

I’ve seen many cosplayers in my life but I rarely see someone pay keen attention to the hair. Usually, hairs like Son Goku’s, Rurouni Kenshin’s, and Sephiroth’s are hard to make so they’re disregarded most of the time, save the costume. But this one really stands out among the Cloud cosplayers. Check out how pointy those things are. lol

Food for thought: I wonder how long it takes for Cloud to gel his spiky hair. Gatsby sure earns a lot from one man. lol
