The child who’s origins are purposefully left a mystery, Ayanami Rei  is a quiet girl who often keeps to herself. She resembles Ikari Shinji’s mother, Ikari Yui, and often acts motherly towards him, despite being (or "appearing to be") the same age. It is stated in the Red Cross Book that Rei was actually created from the salvaged remains of Yui after she was absorbed into the Unit 01 in 2004.

I’m not sure if Sanriotown moderators will mind posting a picture like this, but in case there is a problem, do let me know so I can take this down? I don’t want to make any trouble… But she makes a really impressive Rei!

She is the First (Child) Children, the pilot of Unit 00, and the clone who is a vessel for the Angel Lilith. In the beginning of the series, Ayanami Rei seemed like an emotionless puppet who apparently only had a relationship with Ikari Gendo. However, when she met Shinji, something changes, even though Asuka wants little to do with her.

It’s been a long time since I featured a cosplay from Evangelion. I love the wig used for this one, it looks so natural. Great work!

The beautiful pilot of Unit 02 in her school uniform, Soryu Asuka Langley is perhaps the complete opposite of Ayanami Rei when it comes to their personality. Asuka is a cheerful girl who isn’t afraid to speak her mind with a bit of an egotistical attitude… At least, that’s how she wants people to think of her. Deep inside, she’s actually quite insecure, due to her traumatic childhood.

There have been a lot of cosplays of the 2 famous Neon Genesis Evangelion girls, but this is one of the most impressive Asuka cosplays I’ve ever seen. Really great job on this one! I can arguably say that’s a mischievous smile on her face… Just like Asuka!

Another classic anime for a classic cosplay look, Evangelion has been tested and tried, and a lot of people have been cosplaying Ayanami Rei from any/all walks of life.

This is a photo of one of my favorites. 

Red Eyes, blue hair, and a blank, angst stare… All the makings of a great looking Ayanami Rei Cosplay. And, I love her uniform look better than the plug suits I’ve been seeing all over conventions.
