Vegas baby! (Paris and Bellagio)

August 11th, 2008 by

It was 106 degrees outside and you wonder if what you are seeing is a mirage. Out of the flat, dry desert, you see a whole city bustling with activity where every hotel holds a surprise.

No, I didn’t make a mistake. This is entry is still about Vegas but this is a picture of Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. They really have the miniature Eiffel Tower, Lourve and Arc de Triomph right there.

Golden Ray photos of amazing mass migration

August 11th, 2008 by

The earth is composed of water (2/3) and land and the article below simply shows us there’s still so much about the earth we don’t know - we don’t even need to travel deep. Enjoy the pictures and article below.  (Article and photos from

Looking like giant leaves floating in the sea thousands of Golden Rays are seen here gathering off the coast of Mexico.

The spectacular scene was captured as the magnificent creatures made one of their biannual mass migrations to more agreeable waters.

Gliding silently beneath the waves they turned vast areas of blue water to gold off the northern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Sandra Critelli, an amateur photographer, stumbled across the phenomenon while looking for whale sharks.

From Yosemite to Las Vegas

August 8th, 2008 by

I really like long drives (no heavy traffic please!) you can see the terrain change as well as know a lot about the area just by observing the things you see while on the road.

As we left Yosemite, the landscape changed from the lush green and majestic redwood tress, to the dry and still interesting desert of Las Vegas.

Here are some photos I took from the bus - have a look. :)

Our last stop for the Napa valley trip was at Chandon. We had to drive up and down the highway to look for this place 3 times! Domain Chandon is suppose to be very good at making white wine and champagne.

Napa valley - wineries, vineyard & wine! (Part 2)

July 19th, 2008 by

The next winery we visited was Clos Pegase, further down in Calistoga, CA.  Clos is the French word for an enclosed vineyard, and Pegase means Pegasus.

The Clos Pegase winery mixes modern art, different sculptures of Bacchus (god of wine) and antique items in decorating it’s courtyard and winery. The architecture utilizes the location’s natural landscape. Read the rest of this entry »

Napa valley - wineries, vineyard & wine! (Part 1)

July 18th, 2008 by

It’s the 18th of July, 2008 and no earthquake so far. For those of you who haven’t heard, there’s a rumor circulating around via email that the Philippines will suffer from an 8.1 earthquake today and there will be thousands hurt. (You can see a post about it too here.) Needless to say, believers and non-believers alike are taking extra precaution. On to a lighter note, I just came back from a nice trip to the US to tour the west coast with family and visit a friend. It’s been about 10 years since my last trip there. I enjoyed each day (though it’s rather a short vacation :P) and I am looking forward to sharing some of the pics with you. I hope that you enjoy it too.

Though I’ve been to the West Coast of the US several times before, I planned this trip to include some of the places I’ve always wanted to visit but have not been able to because it’s not part of the normal tour package. I was fortunate enough to have a kind and generous friend Ski to take me around. She also opened up her comfy home for my stay.

First stop – Napa Valley, CA’s wine country.

My welcome message

July 14th, 2008 by

Hi Everyone!

I’ve decided to transfer my original blog onto this one as I realized that I am a bigger fan of Hello Kitty than I am of Kuririn. *sorry* Nonetheless, I hope you still come and visit my blog often.

I will kick off my new blog with entries and photos from my recent trip to the US. I went to SF, Las Vegas, Arizona on a 14-day holiday.
