Santol Juice Anyone?

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

My SIL was sharing with me her healthy alternative to your usual juice. Curious I was, I bought a kilo of santol which at the time I bought 1 kilo, it was still P10 ($0.25). I was excited because I know AD would be happy that we’d be having a juice! We drink water most of the time or make juice out of tanglad (lemongrass), honey (brown sugar or muscovado) and calamansi or anything that is made from scratch. We do drink those powdered juice but we avoid it as much as we can.

Here’s the ingredients:

Our Fave — Chicken Dog

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

This is one of our favorite dish at home..that’s why I make sure that we have a supply of frozen ready-made chicken dogs. My HubbyBubbly loves it, I love it and so does AD. I’m sure JX would love it too since he can also taste it, except for the gas that is passed unto him.

Instead of buying hotdogs for AD (which I really don’t), I just make these…

Ingredients:

1/2 kilo Ground chicken (best to go to the wet market for a leaner meat because the ground chicken in the supermarkets would surely have mixed the skin and its fats)

1/4 cup garlic, minced

1/3 cup sugar (I used brown sugar)

21 grams Maggi or Knorr Chicken powder (forgot what it is exactly called)

1 cup Cheddar Cheese, cut into cubes (You can add more if you want! But take note that it would add saltiness into the mixture…)

Preparation:

1. Combine all ingredients.

2. Using a 4×4-inch square wax paper/ aluminum foil, form 1-tsp of the mixture into a hotdog-like shape. (You can shape it anyway you want.)

3. Freeze overnight to allow flavors to seep into the meat.

4. Cook on pan. No need for oil. It will just cook by itself. Healthier too!

5. You can eat it with atsara or egg! Instead of rice, you can subsitute it with bread…but being a rice person, I really prefer to eat it with rice!

ENJOY! :)
