Harana - a Musical Culture Show

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

sc00784991

Are you a Filipino who is hungry to hear our very own Kundiman Music celebrated through a musical concert reviewing the very best of Filipino music from indigenous Cordilleras, to pre-colonial to contemporary and fusion music?
Are you a Foreigner who wants to be immersed in authentic Filipino music and to understand the musical heritage of the Filipino?
Are you a Generation Y Filipino who is yearning to find your own Filipino identity, break away from our colonizer’s musical influence, and celebrate our rich Filipino heritage through own very own music?

Finally, Philippine Opera Company is staging once again HARANA who got a long standing ovation and emotional applause when they staged the show last year.

Harana is about the courtship tradition of the Filipinos where the suitor sings underneath a woman’s window to win her heart.
We missed it last year, we won’t miss it again and we don’t want our OAP/ Mrs. OAP readers to miss it as well.

This is one of the musical shows that is culturally uplifting and something we Filipinos could be proud of.

Our Awesome Planet/ Mrs OAP supports and sponsors HARANA!
We are selling tickets for

May 30, Saturday 8pm

Earth Day Campaign of STARBUCKS

Monday, April 20th, 2009

Starbucks is inviting blogger friends to join Starbucks to their Earth Day campaign which runs on April 22 and 23 at all Starbucks stores.

Monday, April 20, 7PM

Starbucks Metrowalk

And to communicate that it’s the habit that makes the difference, the Php40 treat will be available on Earth Day and the day after, April 23.

Starbucks  also cooked up something for their regular customers to enjoy on Earth Day - only available at selected Manila Starbucks cafes and it’s better seen in person than described. Starbucks  has made a photo backdrop for their eco-friendly customers to pose with their tumbler and take their photos with. Starbucks  is  hoping this will engage more people in bringing their tumbler for their coffee in their usual Earth friendly To-Do lists.

Background:
On Earth Day, April 22, we’re running a treat for our customers which spells Php40 off the price of any Starbucks beverage if our customer asks to have their drink in their tumbler instead of a paper or plastic cup.

We hope this encourages support of the reusable alternative to having your Starbucks beverage.

Please email Starbucks’ Global Responsibility Head, Zarah Perez at zperez@rustancoffee.ph to confirm your attendance.  Inform Zarah that you got the information from yours truly.

Hope this is not too late!  Just got this HOT information too!

Fantastic Brunch @ Bistro Filipino

Chef Laudico Easter Sunday Brunch-1

Our Easter Sunday brunch ~ Bistro Filipino!  We’ve been here for my birthday celebration three years ago and was surprised to visit this resto again!  Surprise!  Surprise!

Another second timer would be having this kind of buffet set-up wherein you would choose from their menu selection on what you prefer to eat instead of the usual spread of food on the table.  My first buffet brunch experience was in Lili of Hyatt in Malate.  A penalty of P100 would be charged for every unfinished dish you order.   And of course, no sharing for those who are not availing the brunch buffet promo.

Chef Laudico Easter Sunday Brunch-5

Ubod Spring Rolls.  Crispy Lumpia cone filled with Chorizo, Prawns, and Heart of Palm topped with Spicy Sinamak Sorbet.
Loved the combination!  The sinamak was a smack to the rolls.  Kids who are not used to anything spicy will not like the sauce but would love the ubod spring rolls. I loved it the 1st time and loving it the 2nd with or without the sinamak!

Chef Laudico Easter Sunday Brunch-9

Tuna Kilawin Roll.
I love the dimsum wrapper but the tuna kilawin roll didn’t make a mark on me.

Chef Laudico Easter Sunday Brunch-4

Stuffed Fish Ball.
Homemade fish ball perhaps and not my street fish ball I was looking for.  You see, I have this cravings for fish/ squid balls which we eat when we were in college, this time, I rarely eat such so I was excited to try this stuffed fish ball only to be disappointed that it was not what I was expecting.

Chef Laudico Easter Sunday Brunch-7
Sisig Basket.
Expecting the sisig to be crunchy?   Please dont’t because it is not crunchy but chewy except for the sheet.

Getting hungry?….check out some more!

A Different Good Friday

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

We joined the procession!  It was a different gimik indeed…with AD and JX!  I was very fortunate that they were very cooperative at that time of the walk because AD had a full stomach and was entertained by BEN10 (which he watched for the 1st time and me too!) while JX was able to have his afternoon nap.

And so we tread our way to the main street for the starting point. HB took photos of all (or almost all) of the saints.

SALE - Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

I’m still trying to dispose my stock of Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler (I’ve got 6pcs of it, ALL original), anyone interested to get one for themselves or give it as a gift? I’ve got one but rarely use it ~ lotsa excuses (forgets that I have one, no time, I’m not really into those, blah blah blah). I just keep it just in case. I do hope someday it would really be put into good use. I’m also always wanting to know how to put makeup on my own but never really took serious interest because I feel that after investing on it, eventually, I’d lose interest and aside from lack of time, blah blah blah….But seriously, I’d want to learn to simply look good (and feel good esp at this age), I just need to manage my time.

Back to the eyelash curler….
