Yay! My Blood Sugar!

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

Mr and Mrs OAP Blood Sugar-2

Red Alert!

Am I within the range of having a normal rate?  My HB says I’m over the normal range but I’m not sure.   Usually when I have my physical annual exam, I am within range results so I got alarmed by what I saw.

Another reasoning I’m debating with HB is that I didn’t fast for 8 hours.  This was taken at around 4am where I ate at 9pm.  So, is this valid?

Now, I’m paranoid!  Instead of lessening my intake of glucose, I tend to eat the food that is high in sugar!  Just like last night where I got all kinds of dessert (but one of each kind only)…It’s like wanting to slim down but you hear the food’s calling out your name to taste them!  More temptation!  Somebody stop me!!!!

I think I need to evalaute my eating habits and hopefully, I get back to my sporty self…I’m sure HB would be happy to hear this!  He’ll once again have a partner and be motivated to lose weight!

would you…

Bellini’s at Cebu

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Even our friend, Ki, doesn’t know Bellini’s location so we were surprised to see the glow as we breeze through the road.  What a welcome greeting!

Bellinni's-2

This had a nice effect because there was no proper road lightings.  I also liked the intricate design of the arc entrance…imagining having henna tatoo on my body….

Bellinni's-3

Another romantic place to hang out while listening to the background music overlooking Cebu City.  Thanks to G for introducing Bellini’s to us!

Abaca Restaurant & Resort

Monday, March 16th, 2009

We’ve been wanting to book a room at Abaca in one of our vacation but I decided not to proceed with it because we were in a tight budget.  So, what we did was just have dinner with our Cebu-based friends and the Moalboal gang then hang out for a bit.  At least, we can see the place first then decide later on if we would want to pursue and stay in Abaca on our next trip.

Abaca Resort-2
Abaca’s interiors…we were only limited to roam around the restaurant’s vicinity. We respected exclusivity and as a resort guest, I would also prefer that.  After all, they paid premium to experience the coolness of the place and not to be met with sooo many restaurant guests taking photos here and there.  Maybe sometime soon, we can spend 3N and 2 days here!  Wishful thinking man!  M&M, let’s save! We have so many wish list but at least, slowly, we are able to make it come true.  Remember, Palawan?  I miss El Nido!

Room for Backpackers in Cebu

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

My friend, M, told me that they’ve booked a night at this affordable room in Cebu.  She was with 3 more people and they only paid P1300.  Cheap huh!  That got my attention and I checked it out thru their website, Pacific Pensionne. Since we’ll just be staying for the night, why not try it.  We got the double with matrimonial bed and just paid P750!  When we got there, I was informed that this didn’t include a hot/ cold shower!  Oh my!  Unfortunately, they are fully booked so we can’t transfer.

I don’t have any photos because HB forgot to do so but you can check it out at their Pacific Pensionne website.  What you see is what you get…at least with our room.  Or M, do you have a photo of your family room?

There is no elevator so you’ll get to excercise a bit.  TIP: Tell the reservation officer to book you on a 1st or 2nd floor room and near the stairs.

No refrigerator.  Just a dresser with mirror, tv with cable and working airconditioned rooms.  This is just a basic room so do not expect too much.  I had to store my breastmilk at the restaurant for the night.

They have a small restaurant but it is better to eat somewhere that cooks the authentic Cebu dishes.  Walking distance are carienderia and water station.  We just have our bottles refilled@P10/liter vs P35/liter bought from Pensionne.

They accept cash and credit cards (with 5% surcharge!).

How to get there from Airport?  We just took the metered cab.  From the exit, cross the street and go up the stairs.  You’ll find a taxi stand there or ask the guard.  Usual fare would be around P150-200, depending on the traffic.  Be sure to jot down Pacific Pensionne’s address and contact number jsut in case the driver is not familiar with it.  The Pensionne is near Robinson’s mall and Crown Regency, a good 1hour drive from Airport.

Do not be fooled by taxi drivers who would just approach you and offer you a ride.  They would just grab your luggage and direct you to their taxi so you would not ask them some more.  P250 was their rate, cheaper than the P295 airport taxi.
