Jeepney tours Sunset Cruise-22

Would you want to be where we have been?  Come, I’ll share with you our adventure with the kids.

I was happy because we were able to bring AD and JX with us.  Actually, I had second thoughts of bringing them with us but I feel they need a change of air.  This definitely made them happy too!

Thank you very much Ms Clang for inviting us to your one-of-a kind adventure!

Our Happy Cream Puff!

Happy Cream Puff-13 Happy Cream Puff-12
Petit Puff Box (P250). Filled Custard Cream with different toppings.  Up Close and Personal Photos of the Petit Puff.

HB surprised me with these petit puffs!  Although it was fun to see these colorful mini puffs, I still prefer the regular size without the cream.

Happy Cream Puff-14

This did not make it to our home base.  I guess HB was too tempted that he finished it off.  So, how was it, HB?

Happy Cream Puff-17

W-Eclair Box of 5 (P325). Fresh Whipped Cream & Custard Cream.

When HB was about to go up to our place, his mom ambushed him and got the plain eclair….and we got this eclair with whipped cream which was another HB’s surprised for us.  Still, I prefer the plain eclair over these…So, I have yet to really satisfy my craving for the eclair….:D

I just discovered now (as in now!) and was surprised by the price of W-Eclair!   What a waste!  I removed the whipped cream because I didn’t like it.  It was like eating icing for me but lighter than the cake icing.  Still, it was too much.  I still prefer the custard cream for my eclair.

Into Recycling…

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

AD’s class has been into recycling this past month and for their field trip, they went to Kilus Foundation in Pasig.  We were glad that AD was able to join this field trip…and glad that we were able to join too on a last minute thingy. (AD had coughs and colds so we went there on our own so AD can join the class field trip.)

Kilus Foundation-26

I was surprised to see so many end products in their display.  How innovative Filipinos are!

Kilus Foundation-11

We had the opportunity to go around the work area and see how they make the bags from scratch.

Kilus Foundation-13

Some of these tetra pack foils are rejects from the companies that they get while others are really from the trash where they patiently wash and dry them.  The community around Kilus Foundation are helping each other with this project.  You’ll know that you are in their community when you see these foils hanging around and being dried or see bundles of these lying around the compound.

Kilus Foundation-6

Glueing together…

Kilus Foundation-3

Hand sewing piece by piece…Ouchy!  Really takes a lot of patience in completing one bag, or placemats or anything you can imagine!  It reminded me during my high school days where we were taught how to sew…

End Products are:
Kilus Foundation-19
Pencil Case P35 and Small Bag P35. No fee was paid but students were asked to buy at least one from their products.  We let AD choose from the selections (key chain, pencil case and a bag) and he chose these two.

Kilus Foundation-20
Placemats.

Kilus Foundation-8
Bags…Actually, this silver thing is more of the adult’s type over the very colorful foil bags.  Nice thinking!

Kilus Foundation-5
More bags (around P900)…This was also nice!  Recycled paper/ foil rolled up into bead-like accessories for the bag.

Kilus Foundation-23
Evening Bag that I also like.

Kilus Foundation-22
Dress and a Hat…uhmmm…I’m not sure who’ll wear this though…

Kilus Foundation-25
Sandals@P250-P350/pair.  Same here….

Kilus Foundation-15

This was also nice!  Instead of the capiz shells, beads, these rolled up recycled foils/ papers are very unique and would be a nice addition in your home.

After the field trip, AD was very happy and is now more aware of the things around him.  He now knows the recycle sign and wants to recycle almost everything at home!

Here’s a funny story…we were in Tagaytay last Friday and AD saw the rotonda sign.  He excitedly exclaim that it was a recycle sign! We all thought it was funny but it was an honest remark from him.  He was even proud of it!  Ain’t he just cute!  Kids say the darnest things!

1950’s Pandesal Pan De Amerikana

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

No photos yet but I want to share you our latest find around Makati…try the 1950’s pan de amerikana’s wheat pandesal at mapapa-WOW ka (you’ll be surprised)!  It is only P5.50 a piece, freshly baked and it is so big and packed!  AD and JX loves eating those with peanut butter or just plain wheat pandesal!  1950’s pan de amerikana has been around for more than 2 years (i guess) because we’ve been to their Marikina branch.  And we’re glad that they’ve expanded in Makati and Wilson, Greenhills which we can easily go to.

We also liked their ensaymadas but it costs higher than pandesal, P10 a piece.  AD loves this because of the white sugar sprinkle that added texture to his “bread”.  He can finish 2 pieces when he’s hungry.   Yes, he has that appetite!  Will JX have the same appetite as his ahya? Only time can tell.

Last chika:  Did you know that when he and his grandparents went out to eat at their fave restaurant, AD was already considered as an adult because when the grandparents presented their senior citizen for the 20% discount, it was already divided by 4 (plus a relative)?  Hay…AD needs to find a job since he’s now included in the budget. hahaha
