Malacca
I know HB’s excited to try Malacca so we went there even if we (me and the 2 kids) were dead tired. It was not even past 7pm but we had an early day so I feel so weak already.
Bak Kut Teh (P180) - Fresh, tender, meaty pork ribs, whole garlic paired with traditional Chinese herbs simmered into a rich and nutritious soup.
Definitely on OUR list to order. I suddenly remembered our trip to Singapore and we made sure try the MUST eats there and one of them is this Bak Kut Teh. This soup was not new to me as I’ve tasted this already in my younger years at home. I never attempted to know what ingredients were in this soup to make one because when I was in Singapore, I saw a quicker way to have one in your home. I bought several packs of Bak Kut Teh with me. No brainer, just add water, add pork, beef or chicken then just put the sachet with the herbs inside and tada! Let it boil and hmmmm, your soup smells good la!
This soup was good! I just love to sip the hot soup and taste the garlic flavor! The pork was so tender. AD had an easy time eating it. JX loved the soup becuase of its flavor (He is starting to discover good tasting food!). It is good to sip the soup while it’s hot so you won’t see the oil settling. If you do, reheating would be better than taking it all in your tummy.

Malay Chicken Curry (P380) - Fresh farm chicken cut into bite-sized portions and simmered in red curry sauce with potatoes.
HB loved this because of its flavorful curry sauce and its hotness. Actually, he cleanly wiped off the bowl even without the chicken and little rice left. He just loved this dish.
Sambal Kangkong (P180) - Stir-fried kangkong in Malay Sambal chili paste
We wanted a vegetable dish to have a complete meal and we decided we miss having sambal and so sambal it is with kangkong. I am not sure what exactly sambal that we ate but it is Filipino’s version of shrimp paste. I kept asking the server what kind of sambal they use but all they can tell me is that it is sambal. I know there are several type of sambal because when we got back from our Singapore food trip, I have bought a bottle of sambal. I know that I was choosing between 2 bottles having sambal word but with a second word diffrent from the other. I just took my guess in buying what looks the the shrimp paste was love when we were at Singapore and I was right. But right now, I forgot what kind of sambal. I guess I’ll have to guess once again.
Ice Kacang (P120) Similar with Our Halo Halo Dessert.
So sweet, that’s why the kids (and us!) loved it. With beans, gelatin and those sweet bits that make you want to dig for more. What fun we had trying to outsmart each other on who will get what. JX also had fun. Whee! Another lucky day to JX.
Coconut Jelly (P80) - Fresh coconut milk gelatin with young coconut flesh, topped with shaved ice and syrup.
I was not supposed to get this but I felt like having another dessert so we tried this one. It was like having buko pandan salad at home.
Silly AD! hahaha He’s so wanting to eat the dessert. Always asking what’s for dessert…
I’d visit Malacca again for their food…so many dishes to try and to love…no need to go out of the Philippines…just travel to Makati…better on a Sunday….no traffic….

Thanks for the post Mrs OAP!:D however, the time we ate here, there were a lot of items that were not available and we were quite dismayed that the attendants always used the reason that they are in the soft-opening mode thats why a lot of items are not available.
