Fine Dining @ Tangerine

Tangerine-44

This time we made sure that Tangerine is open.  We tried going here for lunch but apparently, they only open for dinner till wee hours and is closed on Sundays.

Tangerine-1

The bread we had were warm so it was a nice touch to a somewhat stiff ambiance in Tangerine.  But what do you expect…it’s a formal place to dine where customers are almost dressed to kill.  As always, an exception was us.  We were just dressed casually but presentable.  I would think this is JX’s 1st formal dinner with us.  I was quite conscious because JX has been wanting to walk around and can’t quite sit still.  Boy, we’re in this the second time…

Tangerine-21

Chiz Platter (Pont Leveque, Blue Cheese, Goat Cheese and Gruyère Cheese) Grapes, dried apricots and walnuts were also included in the platter.  JX ate all of the grapes. Cost P500 + VAT.  Ouch!

But you can be full just by munching on this together with the complimentary bread. I don’t drink wine but a glass of wine would also be a great partner with the cheese.

Tangerine-27

Roasted Aubergines in an Aglio olio dressing with tomatoes.  I think my BIL is on a diet.  He just had this for his dinner but he and HB finished off a bottle of wine.  I guess he can be full at that rate.

Tangerine-26

Lamb a la Rocio (P1,200+VAT). Roasted and Steamed Lamb Chops with a potato-leek confit, served with horseradish.

HB and I shared this lamb.  What?! Lamb again?  This time, we were undecided on what to order.  I didn’t want to have a lamb disha again but we were left with no choice.  We just shared the lamb and surprisingly, I was contented with what we had.  HB kept on feeding me because I was holding JX.  So, he was the one who was controlling my eating.  Slow eating made me full.  I didn’t even finish so much bread because JX wanted to go around and walk.  We just stayed outside by the door while waiting for our orders to come.

Tangerine-28

Steak U.S. Rib-Eye 180g (P875+VAT).  Cha ordered this but we didn’t get to try this.  I guess the steak was just okay.

Tangerine-38

Belgian Chocolate Special Soufflé (P235+VAT)

The chocolate was not rich in taste.  It lacked the oommph!   But it served its purpose of removing the lamb taste.

We stayed for a while to listen to the music.  JX was swaying with the music while the singer jazzed the night away.  The place is not our kind of place but it is nice for a change of ambiance.  For a monday night, we were kind of surprised that it was full.  Full of people particularly, politicians and high society crowd.  Anthony Manuntag broke the ice of silence and stiffness.  Suddenly, the place was alive!  By the way, Pilita, who owns or co-owns the place, also performs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.  To be sure and inquire about who performs, better call them.
