Sushi Kappo Kobikicho’s Set Meal

Sushi Kappo Kobikicho-28

Be sure to know their opening hours/ days to avoid being welcomed with closed doors!  This is our second time to go here and see the CLOSED sign but since HB was very insistent, he asked the attendant if we can just wait inside and wait for them to open since we didn’t have anywhere to go since we have to go somewhere else after (and such waste of gas again).  We arrived 11am and they open at 11.30am.  They gladly welcomed us so we were quite happy.

Appetizer: Gyunikomen - Simmered beef with mushroom, tofu and onion leeks on top.

Didn’t feel like beef at all…but it was yummy!  The texture was so soft that it was like melt-in-your-mouth beef!  The onion leeks made it more tastier vs if there was none of the leeks.  I wish I can have more of this but this came with the lunch meal so I guess this was really just an appetizer to make you more hungry than you are, not to mention that AD liked it too!  Poor momma…of course, I’ll give it to my kiddo before anything else.  Magutom na lang muna ako!  (I’ll have to starve myself to death.)

Appetizer: Harusame Salad with carrots and cucumber.

The mayo dressing was rich enough that I almost ate all the little portion they served.  I had to share it with AD too!

Funny, as I was searching for Harusame salad, there were several ingredients that was listed in order to prepare the salad but it seemed (from my memory) that I only got to taste were the carrots and cucumber, possibly the glass noodles which I didn’t quite recognized since the dressing coated it.  Also, possibly that there was a sesame dressing but the mayo was more evident.

Pickles…or was it pickled vegetables?

Sushi Kappo Kobikicho-22

Miso soup with enoki mushroom and soft tofu cubes.

Ginger Pork Lunch Meal. Sauteed Pork Flavoured with special ginger sauce.  Served with appetizer, pickles, miso soup and dessert.

Darn!  I wished I’d ordered the Special Meal of the Day!  It was not bad but it was not great either.  I was expecting MORE like the Zuke-Don meal my HB had but it was just your ordinary ginger pork rice meal.

Sushi Kappo Kobikicho-25

Wasabi In Action.  HB was surprised by the powerful wasabi he tasted that our server gladly showed us the actual wasabi my HB loved!  I didn’t dare try it but HB’s reaction was enough for me.  He’s a wasabi lover.  I didn’t know that wasabi belonged to a root crop family.

Zuke-Don Lunch Meal.  Tuna sashimi marinated in special soy sauce on top of sushi rice.  Served with appetizer, pickles, miso soup and dessert.

I, too, was surprised with the vibrant color of this tuna sashimi.  My first time ever to see such color that I was very excited to get a taste of it.  They explained that the fish is a blue fin tuna thus, the color.  Hmmm, I’m not too familiar with how the blue fin fish looks like nor its color but I trust them.  The tuna came from Japan together with all the other ingredients used.

Eating this sashimi was an experience because I was so amused with the vibrancy of color.  The texture was just right.  It was not too mushy nor feel it was really raw.  It was just perfect together with the sushi rice!  It was just like eating tuna sushi rice with big fish roe on top.  I wished I’d just ordered this too so I’d be happy to pay our meal but I had to consider my AD.  He can’t eat raw foods yet.  His tummy may not be able to handle such kind of food yet.

Sushi Kappo Kobikicho-24

Green tea ice cream.  AD didn’t like the tea flavor that’s why I was able to have this scoop all to myself.

Madison Grill-4 Madison Grill-12

We wanted AD to try to make our pizzabut he was too conscious that people were looking at him.  He was already wearing the apron and the gloves but he was just to shy.

Madison Grill-18

And so, he was just the one who sliced the pizza for us.

Tom Yum Seafood Pizza (P695 net).

Honestly, I was hesitant to order this (because of the price) but HB wanted to try it out.  I was surprised to see the shape of the pizza.  It was not even round!  It was oblong so the measurement they indicated was….yes, you guessed it right!  We’ve been had and I hate that!  hahaha

Toppings included were scallops, shrimps, mussels and shitake mushroom.

Madison Grill-26

Braised Lamb Shank with Oriental Spices and Wild Rice with Vegetables (P450)

We were so into lamb that here we go again, we ordered it once more.  Walang kamatayang lamb (Unending eating of lamb).  It was just okay but wishing it was something out of the ordinary….oh well, maybe next time, it’ll be better.

I think they have good steaks….but we’re not steak people….so maybe you, steak person,  can try them out and tell me what you think of Madison Grill’s meat.
