Cicou

Restaurant Cicou-10

We are always hungry by the time we enter a restaurant so whenever there is a complimentary bread being served, we are sure to eat it to temporarily satisfy our hunger.  And we were glad to have eaten these yummy bread!  Actually, I’ve had several of the olive and walnut bread.  The olive had that sour-y taste while the walnut bread had bits of walnuts in it.  I liked how the olive bread tasted and best of all, it had the right chewiness of a bread.  The walnut bread reminded me of a bread my HB used to buy when he goes to Singapore.  (That was eons ago!)

Sea Urchin Soup (P300).  Thinking twice, did I get prawn bisque or they just gave me the wrong soup?  Nope, they did not get it wrong and I remember in the description of the soup was prawn bisque with sea urchin.   And so, prawn bisque it was and slimy sea urchin at the bottom of the soup dish.  I guess the sea urchin taste was mixed with the prawn bisque soup already as it tasted bland.  I liked the warm soup we shared, Aidan even liked it!  The middle thing was the sea urchin mousse, I was told but then, it tasted just like the soup in more concentrated form.

Just a side information, their tables look nice but be careful not to lean and put weight on it because it is not properly secured.  The glass top is just placed on top of the silver stand with a rubber stopper in between so as the glass not to slip and be scratched but have the chance to topple over.

Garoupa.  Hmmm….if I’d known that the soup we ordered would be the “soup” of the garoupa, I would have scratched off our soup.  Never mind not eating those sea urchin!

Looking at this dish made me not want to try it.  Wanna know why?  The green thing looks like algae!  Yikes!  It doesn’t look too much appetizing to eat it right?  And look at the bubbles….uhm….good thing, I was too distracted to really imagine because I was carrying JX.  The fish was good but nothing too exciting.  Kinda disappointed to once again taste the prawn bisque soup even if we liked it because the main course should have a different eating experience.  I wished the server would know what comes with what to avoid such incident.

Chicken (Pamora Free-Range) (P650+) Roasted Breast Stuffed with walnut Butter and Leg with Boudin Sausages

I’m not really a fan of white meat so I did not appreciate this dish.  We just got this to be on a healthier side.   I was surprised to taste the trufle but got disappointed when it was only a portion of the side dish that was sprinkled with it.  Darn! :D

The beef and lamb dishes looked interesting but we decided to try their free range chicken.

After dinner, we decided NOT to order desserts so our little ones will be able to sleep early (so I can rest earlier too!).  Before we left Hotel Celeste, we requested to take a peek inside their rooms.  Boy, it was nice…really nice!  Once you’re in, you’d never want to leave the room!

One Response to “Cicou”

  1. Sam Says:

I just went to Cicou yesterday and I gotta say, the food was absolutely delicious. I tried the Onion Soup, the Duck breast (which was under the chef’s suggestions) with the Duck liver sauce, and an Orange dessert. I can’t quite remember the name of the dessert but it had a chocolate dome. It had something like a sorbet inside.
Well anyway, I just wanted to say that the food there is absolutely fabulous & delicious! Yum!
