Pansit Pansitan sa Tuguegarao
We arrived at Tuguegarao a day early prior to our all adventure trip not knowing what we’ll be doing. Yes, it was HB’s task to make our itinerary and keep the ball rolling just for a day. Little did we know that we’d stuff ourselves with pansit ~ carbo loading!
For this trip, we tried 2 kinds of Pansit ~ Pansit Batil-Patong and Pansit Cabagan.
Both looks similar except for its toppings.
Batil-Patong (L) is pansit guisado with cara beef and fried egg on top. The red hotdog looks ridiculous, included maybe to add color to the boring state of the pansit. Pansit Cabagan (R) looks like your pansit palabok minus the pale color with its lechon carahay and the mini eggs.
Honestly, the pansit taste no different in Manila BUT what made the difference was….
….this sauce! Slices of onion (mint candy anyone?), soy sauce, vinegar and calamansi….mixed them together then put it into the noodles! It’s yummy! Although, I wouldn’t go to Tuguegarao JUST to taste it because I think it’s easy to replicate it. One thing you need to know is that they use their own noodles. They make it fresh so making it on your own might have a different taste…but I don’t think it would make a BIG difference :) As long as you like how your pansit is cooked and your sauce concoctions are based on your taste, you’re like having pansit in Tuguegarao!
