Knowing What Lolo Dad’s Really Serve

I can’t forget the time we ate at Lolo Dad’s in Malate.  Boy, I was so embarassed because it was a far cry from what I told my now ex-BF that Lolo Dad’s serve great grilled food.  I was even proud that I found a restaurant w/c he didn’t know about.  I do remember that one set menu cost around P1500 and that time, P1500 was too much!  What we did was just to order one set menu and order from the ala carte menu so we can have a taste of their other dishes.  The visit was the time when we were still dating or was it “just friends” stage and he was not yet blogging at that time?

I forgot if our attire were appropriate, but I guess we were dressed fine since we were not refused.  HB kept on teasing me all night long.  From then on, I never forgot Lolo Dad’s and sadly, we were not able to visit the place again until now…but in a different branch and different set-up…Lolo Dad’s Brasserie at 6750.  We do hope they’ll stay longer than any of the restaurant that has been there so we can go there more than once.

Let us not wait any longer, and let you in on what we have eaten with our dear friend, Cai.

“Only for the Rich” Salad (P1,650 +SC). Combination of Diver Scallops, Lobster, Seared Duck Liver, Jamon Serrano and Cured Salmon with Mesclun greens in Pomegranate and Molasses dressing.

I want to be contaminated by this salad….Only for the Rich…positive vibes coming thru my door!  Ahhh!  Only for the rich!  Come to me!

I loved almost everything in the salad ~ from the seafoods to the greens!  Yummy!  Each seafood was perfectly seasoned and grilled that every bite was an ooohhhh and aahhhh (and quickly, our fork is touching the plates to get some more)!  The dressing was just too overwhelming.  I thought it was supposed to be on the sweet side since I saw that it was with molasses but then, I don’t know the taste of  pomegranate which made me curious about the salad too!  I read that sometimes it would either be sweet or sour…so, I guess what we got was sour that made our dressing on a sour (strong) sweet (mild) tone.  Even if we ate the greens with the dressing with the seafood, the dressing still overpowered the combined taste.

Prawn Rigatoni Pasta in Garlic and Olive Oil (P480 +SC) with Prosciutto and Aragula Toast

We were able to try the toast and I say that it is best to cut it into bite sizes instead of being unlady like in a fine dining restaurant like Lolo Dad’s.  Hahaha.  I figured that since the place was barely with people, why not just pick it up and just bite to get the feel of the toast and savor it?  And see what happened to me…With just one bite, I was able to push everything into my mouth!  The proscuitto didn’t want to be detached…I had a hard time slicing it between my teeth.  So, instead of making a big mess, I just shoved it into my mouth.  Unlady like but that’s better than letting the proscuitto hang in there (like a tongue) while I slowly try to slide it into my mouth.  That would be more embarassing for me especially, if somebody was looking at me.

Smoked Salmon Creamed Fettucine (P420 +SC) with grilled Pizza Omellet

We thought that this pasta was greatly done.  It was not too creamy that would make us look for another dish to eat.  Actually, it was the other way around,  we wanted to have more of this great tasting pasta.  The salmon was very tasty.  Right amount of saltiness and creaminess.  It was a great idea to pair it with an omellet ~ something different.

Lamb Chops (P1,100 +SC) with grilled fruits, and appropriate sauces, and a choice of Rice, Mashed Potato.

I was expecting too much from Lolo Dad’s.  I was expecting them to surprise me with the lamb.  Yes, I was surprised.  Surprised that it was just your ordinary lamb chops served in a fine dining restaurant to justify it’s pricing.  I wished I’d ordered the sea bass!

I like zee hair! I felt so pretty! Oh so pretty! hahaha Just had my haircut a few days ago when we dined at Lolo Dad’s and now, it’s nowhere near pretty.  *sob* *sob* *sob*

Baked Cheese Cake (P250 +SC) Lavender and Honey Ice Cream with Fruit Compote

The baked cheese cake was like eating Red Ribbon’s cake (I suddenly had a block out that I can’t remember what loaf it is!) so I liked eating the cheese cake!I thought that the ice cream didn’t match the cheese cake.  As I took my share of the ice cream, I was shocked to taste what we would only smell…really, I didn’t like the lavender and honey ice cream.  The combination of the ice cream was also off.  Too bad…

Chocolate Almond Segafredo (P200 +SC) Orange Popsicle and Berry Sauce

I was surprised to see so much desserts but happily finished it off.  Sorry, AD but Poppa and I took your share because you were nowhere near.

This segafredo dessert made me forget that lavender & honey ice cream.  The popsicle was divine!  It tasted the real orange (I just forgot if it was sunkist or dalandan, that’s what I get from wrting about this food trip experience just now)!  Oh, I can’t forget the chocolate almond bar!  It was heavenly!  It was just too rich for us to finish that enormous chocolate bar that we decided to just bring home the leftover. Including slices of almond was a good distraction from the rich chocolate.  This was worth the price!  I say, the desserts here are worth it.

So, are you interested to try out Lolo Dad’s?  Reserve now for your Christmas getogether to avoid being denied.
