Labor Of My Love
For the past months, I’ve been travelling locally with my HB. The trips would usually take 3-4 days away from the kids (woohoo, honeymoon! hahaha). This is the first time ever events that I left AD for more than 2 days and with JX too. With JX, this is totally a different matter. I had never left AD for more than a day when he was still a baby! And look what I’ve been doing with JX. I’ll share with you (in another post) how bad a mom I am to JX.
But no matter how far I am, I do not forget the kids especially JX because I get engorged! I know, I know, it is not a nice word but that’s the term when one is nursing her baby so pardon me, my friends. For non-nursing friends out there, engorge is a term when nursing moms do not get to feed or pump out the milk out of their breast for several hours, in short, my breasts get swollen or to be blunt, gets BIG (wowee! Only time when I get a nice looking plump booby!). So what do I do? I bring out my best friend out of its hiding place!

My breastpump! Yes, I bring her along WHEREVER I go. See, how can I forget my JX? I can neglect my HB (because he is of age already to think for himself) but never the breaspump nor milk I get to collect over the days I am not with JX. Good thing, I weaned AD already or else, I know I won’t be able to go with HB to the trips (I owe you stories of the 5 trips we’ve been to! Just waiting for HB to upload the photos.).
My preparation for the trips are to ensure that I have ice (frozen for several days so it would take longer hours to melt. I use this when we will be on a land trip upon arrival), sterilized plastic bags and clips, nursing cover, re-useable Royce storage bag (I’ve set aside this after eating Royce chocolates bought from Singapore because I know it has some use someday and I was right! This bag is soo sturdy but not leakproof from the melted ice. I guess this helped lengthen the lifetime of the ice.) and my drinking bottle.
But what really drains me is the process because I have to think of the ff:
Daytime:
- What time can I express my milk? I have to jibe my time to the time when we are in a car or idle time. Time management. I cannot let them wait.
- I need to eat healthy and drink plenty of water. We would usually eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. Snacks are on occasional basis (if we have baon, passby any grocery store or something). Water is one of the big factor.
- Water = Restroom break. I don’t want to be a bother especially when we are on a land trip so I’ll just wait for people to say they need restroom break and I’ll go too.
Night Time:
- I need to sterilize the breastpump and bottle I used before I canuse it again to express. Sterilize = Time
- I’m tired from the day trip but I need to express (Can HB express my milk for me?)! I want to sleep because we need to wake up early. We cannot be late!
- Sterilize again for tomorrow’s use of breastpump.
- Store my precious (precious one…) milk either in our personal refrigerator in the room or I have to call Housekeeping for safekeeping. I have to remind them to just place it farther inside the refrigerator and not freezer.
Inspite of those draining moments, I never once gave up because I know I am doing it for my son, JX who is about to turn a year old.

I love you my Angel JX! You are another wacky son of ours! Tonight, he started (again!) to blink his eyes as if he hear me say, “Beautiful eyes.” He is so cutie! I asked my HB if he is the one responsible for it and JX pointed at me! hahaha JX really understands what I was saying! Lately, he has been giving me kisses when I asks for it! Wow! I lovingly ask for it many times a day because…because I am his Momma! And I tell you, AD would also give me a kiss and say, I love you Momma! Double wow! How sweet it is to be a mom, don’t you think?
