Lily Pad
Yes, we had to go to Calamba for a late home-ccoked lunch at Lily Pad’s….we even missed half of the Halloween party for an out-of-town food trip….there’s the avid fan of Halloween Costume parties!
All along, I thought the sliding doors were made of wood but lo and behold, it was made of steel, kinda heavy and hard to slide open with one hand. At least, this stops AD from going in and out once the door has been closed. Wood wouldn’t survive in this kind of set-up.
The bust up there gave me the creeps! I thought it was real! hahaha I dare not look at her again because she might *wink* *wink* at me! Yay!
Crispy Dried Beef. We were so hungry that we stuffed ourselves with these appetizers. Dipped into the garlic vinegar sauce, uhmm….it taste good but I prefer mine like not dried. It was so dry that when I bite into it, it was crunchy and some of it crumbles to the floor. I suddenly miss those Shin Ton Yong fruity juicy beef strips!
Bacalao. I’m not too fond either with food swimming in oil even if it’s extra virgin oil but I had to at least try it. We ate this with the french bread. The bread absorbed the sauce (tomato based) and the oil. Toppings were the bacalao and chick peas. It was nice to try this but wouldn’t want to indulge more..
Lily Pad served us drinks to make the food go down fast! hahaha We had a choice of dalandan juice and softdrinks. Naturally, we’d choose the juice over the sodas. Come the lunch proper, I was asking the waiter to give us more dalandan juice, I was surprised that there was a limited supply of the juice! What?! I wish I’ve known about this (again!) and I would’ve requested more of this refreshing juice over the sodas. You see, our family is not a big fan of sodas. We or I would occassionally have one can and we or I’m done. So, from that you’ll guess that our body fat content is purely food, food and desserts!

Arugula with Balsamic Vinaigrette. To spice up my salad, I decided to add plum sauce (from the Duck). Yummy, glad I did what I did! It would’ve been great to see more of the other greens though. The arugula leaves should have been left drowned in clean chilled water and just remove when about to attack.
Grilled Tangigue. The fish dish that didn’t impress me. Just seeing it, made me ask myself, why did we get this one? Obviously, it would taste dry and look dry while waiting for us to arrive. Unless, they just grill it the moment we arrive. But they didn’t, so we just have to bear with the big cut of fish. As expected, we didn’t even finish half of the serving of this fish. My MIL suggested that it could’ve been better to have been sliced it thinly to really get the taste of the marinated fish. I agree and maybe it would’ve been better to grill it when we’ve arrived. How long can it be grilled for 5 people? I’m sure it would be fast! Or better yet, grill upon request!
Lengua. One of my favorites, lengua but apparently, I only ate 1.5 slice of this beef tongue. Lengua too soft and mushy that it was like tearing cotton apart…Meat threads were torn between whose camps to join…to the left or to the right….
Pasta with Mushroom Sauce. Yummy mushroom sauce cooked with olive oil! Shitake mushroom, I love! Made several trips to the table just to have these!
Duck from Oscar’s Farm. For me, anything fried but cooked well with quality oil would turn out good. I loved the duck especially with the skin. Yes, I know it’s not healthy and I do not usually eat these kind of food so it is ok to indulge at that time. This was best eaten with the sweet plum sauce which I also used as my salad dressing. I had to stop myself from getting my 3rd serving of duck or else, I would have been the winner…winner to finish it all.
Apple Pie. A scoop of vanilla ice cream would have been the icing of this pie. too bad, there was none! Again, ignorant of me, I should really took care of the ordering or should have looked the possible menus for our lunch…I didn’t know the dessert was an apple pie nor we could’ve chosen another one. I would’ve chosen the pecan pie or the bread pudding. It would just be fine anything except apple pie. Sorry to those apple pie lovers, I’m sure this pie is just as wonderful as any pie I’d order but this is really not my kind of pie. My BIL liked this pie because it was not too sweet. If he had known that it can be brought home, he would have but it was already too late for us to go back and get it.
By the way, they can serve you 2 kinds of dessert provided that you’ll be around 10 people. We were only 5 so we were only given one dessert. No worries! Less calories for me!
Tea for the family. Its flavor is coconut from Carica. This is also on the house. I do hope this is unlimited supply! And also the dalandan juice! Bottomless please!
The restroom that can accomodate all of us. You can even sleep inside the restroom if you feel comfortable doing so.
This is what an origami house looks like! :) Interesting huh!
Lily Pad offers Mediterranean and Filipino choice of menu. Minimum reservation is for 5 person. They can accomodate you for lunch and dinner. The house and its content are conversational pieces that would not leave you bored.
For me, I would prefer a lower price per head than add more dishes to justify a P1000/ head meal. Quality vs. quantity.
As for the payment, cash is accepted while credit card service is not yet ready. Senior citizen is also not yet in effect this time.

Ohh! Lengua! I can’t wait for my mom to cook lengua again. She usually makes some for Christmas or on our birthdays. XD
I agree in having vanilla ice cream on the apple pie. It would have changed the whole experience.
