Rare opportunity for us to be within the area so we always have to rack our brains out to choose a restaurant…and Bagoong Club (this reminds me of Kanin Club *sigh*) was where we decided to have our lunch.

Freebie: Singkamas (Turnips) and 2 Types Of Bagoong Asya & Europa (Shrimp Paste). We didn’t know that the bagoong was 2 different flavors because we just kept on munching and munching while dipping it into the bagoong. Nice appetizer but AD didn’t eat any of it. He likes the bagoong but finds the singkamas weird.

Club Binagoongan Special (P240). The pork meat was kept at a minimum with very evident fatty parts. The sauce was with tomato sauce and bagoong (again) and it had a nice taste. Loved to mix it with the rice even without the fatty pork meat. Either they put more meat or lower the price of this dish even if it is one of their bestseller.

Kare-Kare All-Vegetable (P180). Chunky and thick peanut sauce, taste was very dependent on the bagoong. I wanted to have a vegetable dish. I wanted a kare kare flavored dish. We already have a pork dish so we just got the all-vegetable kare kare. Pechay, eggplant and other vegetable that I can’t remember now…

Calamansi Torte (P130). This one’s made exclusively for Bagoong Club. Crunchy with the light sour flavor of the calamansi. I liked this because of the right combination of the sweetness and sourness of the fruit. I wished I ordered one more for myself…and of course, AD would tell me, “Share lang…”

Bagoong Club Pasta (P190). We thought the Kare Kare and Club Binagoongan was not enough for us so we ordered one more pasta. Sauce was red with slices of pork, and bagoong (last na!). It was kinda salty for us…maybe because of the bagoong and tomato was not properly paired well. We were full by the time it arrived so after having a taste, we had it packed for take home. Maybe that’s why this is a slow moving dish for them (came from the mouth of a waiter..Ooooppps!). Come the next day, actually, it tasted less salty and spicier this time. BETTER.
Suggestion: Bagoong Club should come up with an Eat-all-you-can RICE! Because bagoong (shrimp paste) can simply be a dish by itself and with unlimited rice, boy you’ll be carbo loaded! At least, you’re happy! You just go back to your diet the next day.
