Grade 8 - Wagyu Beef

House of Wagyu-10

To go in or not to go in….

When HB knew about this place, he didn’t waste anymore time in convincing me to dine here but I had second thoughts….

House of Wagyu-12

We were surprised to be served with a soup because we didn’t order one. Free soup with an order of wagyu steak. Cream of spinach…was their soup for the day. It was okay. At least, we had something warm in our tummy before we had our salad.

House of Wagyu-13

Caesar Salad (P225). Also, split into half. It was the plain old Caesar’s salad!

First, here’s what they wrote about the ever so popular wagyu beef on their menu.

Wagyu beef is considered to be the very finest in the world. Historically, an exclusive dish for Japanese emperors, it is the most tender and succelent beef. There are all kinds of stories about these imperial cattle being massaged, fed on beer and then sold at gastronomical prices. These are not folkloric. Extra ordinary care and attention have been devoted to the rearing of this unusual breed of cattle focusing of quality instead of quantity. The result is the “caviar of the beef.”

Yipes!  It’s Jollibee!

Jollibee

My first time to see Jollibee’s face on a cake and we were surprised to get one!  How’d we get one?  Did we join a contest and won this as a prize?

Gelato/ Yoghurt Ice Cream Galore

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Megamall is one of the malls we don’t frequently go to…because we see no reason why to go BUT now that we have errands to do in the area…we thought of things we want to do at Megamall where we cannot do it anywhere else…Guess what?  You guessed it right!  To eat!  But to eat where you can only find it in Megamall!

Angelati Gelato is now in Megamall.  They’ve opened months ago but it is only now that we were able to visit the stall.  Too far with too many appointments.  This is the side where Almon Marina is located and where the concerts (It was Ogie Alcasid’s new CD album they were promoting at the time we were there.  No, I’m not a fan of Ogie the Pogi.)  are held.

Yummy, yummy, yummy!

Hazelnut is P90 a scoop because it is a premium gelato!

Another cold dessert that we had that day was the Yogurbud…another yoghurt ice cream but located in MANILA — Megamall to be exact!

Yogurbud

Everything on display was not as convincing as the yoghurt ice cream that we are about to have.  We just had to try this one (although we haven’t heard about this) because we were intrigued by the flier HB got when he was in Podium the other day.

Yogurbud-5

Yes, it has the yoghurt-y taste and I liked it!  I wish I’d just ordered the yoghurt ice cream because it was fine just the way it was.  The fruit toppings were frozen (or was it just the mango that I ordered because there were no fruits on display? I’m not sure.  Just ask before you order.  Toppings are extra P10 and that makes a P100 per serving.).  And oh, our order was not as full as I thought it was, there was a big space in the middle which definitely disappointed me.  I do hope it’s not their usual way of serving because at P90, you should get value for your money and I’d want another serving when I go back to Megamall the next time around.

While I Was Watching

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

I accidentally erased my post on this :( so I’m doing it all over again but shorter.

I won’t do a review of The Dark Knight because I’m pretty sure you’ve read and knew about it before I even watched the movie.  I’m not really a fan of watching hero/ villain movies because I feel tensed.  Tensed?  Well, it’s because I hate watching people die all because their loved ones do the right thing.  I anticipate that something will go wrong that is why I didn’t really get to enjoy the movie.  I kept on squeezing HB’s hand and arms if and when there would be physical hurting/ killing.  I didn’t like it one bit BUT I loved the twist and turns because the story was not predictable (or was it just moi?).  Movie was exciting but I also can’t help but keep on checking my watch, wishing it to end so I can go home to my kids who were both sick.

The Dark Night

If you’re looking for something good for the heart, this is not the movie for you.  But if you are wanting to have excitement for 2 and a half hours, then call (02.556 IMAX or 02.5560242) and reserve your tickets now!

The Dark Knight will be showing at IMAX Theater starting July 17.  Tickets are priced at P350.  By the way, The DK is only in 2D format because it used IMAX film on establishing shots and action scenes.   One thing I also noticed was the voice quality was not that good (especially in the end, maybe because there were too much *bang* *bang* sounds) especially when Batman speaks.  BUT overall, I’m sure you’ll love it!  If not, well, I’m sorry to set your expectations so high.

Healthy Place called Healthy Kitchen

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Yes!  Another hangout place in Serendra…cozy little nook..with FREE WiFi!

Healthy Kitchen-9

No longer a secret because it is already OUT!

Healthy Kitchen
Lory’s Pizza (P250).  Made with turkey bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes in an alfredo sauce and topped with organic fresh mozzarella.

Who is Lory?“, we asked the server.   The owner.  “Oh!“, we replied.

Do not laugh at me but when I saw the pizza, I knew it wasn’t enough even for me!  I was surprised to see the pizza almost similar to a personal pizza but a price for a pizza good enough for 2-3 persons.  Good thing, the pizza was great tasting! I loved the turkey bacon which really made the pizza stand out and the alfredo sauce and the mozarella and everything else on the pizza!  Oh, and don’t forget the crispy crust! :D

I wish eating healthy doesn’t cost too much because that is what prohibits most people into going healthy all the way…I’m guilty as charged but we’re going there slowly…

Ms. Lory was there when I went with HB (not his first time) and she made sure that she was able to chat with us a little bit.  We knew from her that she opened her 1st restaurant called, The Brown Bag at Eastwood, Libis but it didn’t turn out well and so she moved her restaurant here in Serendra.  They’ve been open a couple of months already and usually they are packed on weekends.  I’m sure to visit the place once again (have to save up for that lunch!) for they have such interesting healthy menu.

Do share with me what you loved about the restaurant whether it be the ambiance, the feeling or the FOOD!

My Favorite OTOP Food

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

This is in no particular order…

OTOP Wrapsody

Bicol’s version of Baklava because of the pili nuts.  We didn’t get to buy this (I just remembered!) when we went but we got to try this when Miss T gave us a box. It was not too sweet for me which is good.  Gooey when you bite into it (beacuse of the caramel), messy because of the crust falling off(and because AD was finishing it all off).  Individually packed.  We loved this!  I just regret that I wasn’t able to buy it because I was thinking of other things (and getting old).  Cost is P180 for 24packs.

OTOP Food Trip-21
Hungarian Sausage from HERO. At P70 each, this was our lunch.  We even shared this ONE hotdog sandwich.  I don’t usually eat hotdogs but HB ordered it and couldn’t refuse.  Glad I didn’t because I asked from one bite to another until we were already hogging that one sandwich.  We should’ve bought one more so we can have one each but that would be too much for us since we’ve been stall hopping and trying to test almost all of the food stalls we can pass by!  We loved this because we ate it while it was hot from the griller and it was spicy.  All the more because we were sharing only ONE sandwich.

You can buy the Hungarian sausage for P285/ kilo which has 9-12 pieces.  (I should’ve bought no?  But I didn’t!).  One of their bestseller is schublig.  Ignorant as I am when it comes to sausages, I asked what is the difference, and they told me, schublig is minus the spiced flavor of the Hungarian sausage.

OTOP Food Trip-17

This was the 1st noodle stall I saw (after that, I saw too many noodles stall)  and I bought 1 pack only to try it out.  What made me bought it?  I saw the word MALUNGGAY noodles and thought why not try it?  It’s not that I’m running low with my supply of milk for JX but I was also curious.  I don’t think it would really have an effect on my milk supply (I can have fresh malunggay anytime I want because we have it at home.) but I just want to try it out.  There were many variants of it such as squash, carrots, ampalaya, spinach, soybean, pechay, saluyot and yacon.  They even included recipes if you want to prepare it as mami, canton, crispy canton or a snack (and eat it that way like I used to when I was in my younger years…brought back memories..).  To date, I haven’t tried it yet but hopefully, my impulse buying was a good choice.  Priced at P25 each.  Shouldn’t hurt my pocket :D

OTOP Food Trip-15

Homemakers literally gathered around this booth so I thought I’d also join the wagon.  True enough, I bought a bottle of the Kesong Puti in Italian Dressing (P150).  It was healthier than the dips & spreads (P100) but more expensive which I didn’t mind.  Perfect for crackers or melba toast!  I don’t think it will even last for a day when we attack this (so I still don’t dare open it, hahaha.  Actually, I still have to buy the crackers.).

OTOP Food Trip-12

I loved this Kalabas Okoy because it is okey na okey, pagkaing okey sa presyong olrayt ( I loved this Kalabas Okoy because it is okay and the price is right.)  This okoy is made of squash strips, onions, shrimps and flour instead of the all shrimps.  Too bad it was fried but I tried ONE.  Anyway, looks good ain’t it?  It is!  And it only cost me P15 per piece.  The vinegar made ittaste better!

OTOP Food Trip-27

I’ve seen these tahong chips but never really interests me because it’s chips.  I try to stay away from junk food that’s why.  This is our first time to get a taste of the tahong chips and we instantly liked it.  Made from Green mussels which guarantees the customer rich in iron, iodine and calcium! It really tasted like the tahong!  Also good to enjoy with organic spiced vinegar if you’re fond of having dips for your chips but it can stand alone as tahong chips only.  It costs P45 for 120g while P20 for 35g.  The 120g tahong chips comes with the spiced vinegar while you just buy the 35g packof tahong chips.

Tomorrow is their last day at Megamall so do dropby when you’re in the area.

TIP:  Go around first.  Take note of what appeals to you (Cost, Healthy, Other Competitors) then decide or you can take their contact details so you can order when you’ve made up your mind.  And oh, don’t forget to bring your own bottled water, you’ll get thirsty after all those eating bits and bits from each stall unless you have a plan to try all the wines there.

Enjoy your food trip!  Do share what else you’ve found which I didn’t!  Would love to hear from you!
