Piquant

Before heading to the Avenue Q show, we decided to eat at Piquant in RCBC. There were a lot of restaurants at the 3rd level but this stood out because they serve healthy foods, particularly South Beach/ Atkins dishes. We ordered 4 meals for 4 people but in the end, 3 people were eating 4 meals. Nevertheless, nothing was left after 20 minutes of eating.  Too fast?  Sorry about that, we were in a hurry because we have a show to catch.

Florentine (P175).  Spaghetti noodles with spinach, mushrooms, spring onions, anchovies and basil in light cream sauce.  Easy to make pasta dish, not to forget that it was great tasting too!  I liked the anchovies which added saltiness in the pasta.  Whole wheat noodles are available for those who are conscious of what they eat.

Piquant-15

Thai Style Chopped Chicken with Basil and Chiles (P245). Sauteed chopped chicken with eggplant and bell peppers served with brown rice.  I was hesitant in ordering this for me but I was glad to convince my BIL to get this one.  It tasted good though I only caught a couple of chopped chicken.  With the price, they should be generous with the meat serving as they are with the rice and vegetables on the side.

Broiled Tuna Steak with Chilled Horseradish Cream sauce (P195).  This was just ok because we really wanted to try the Steamed Maya.  It would be nice to eat the tuna with the cream sauce else, the fish was kinda bland.  The fish would be great to pair it with the Thai Style Chopped Chicken.

Steamed Maya with Spinach and Anchovy sauce (P265).  We had to return this dish because the steamed maya was too tough for a fish.  I just wanted to show you how it looked like.  I got to taste the pasta and I liked it.  It was sauteed with olive oil and some bits of greens.  Thanks to the store manager who gladly took this dish and let us change our dish.

Piquant-1

Grilled Rosemary Chicken with Roasted Tomato and Cucumber Sauce (P225). A South Beach/ Atkins dish.  I got this for HB so he can at least eat one healthy meal.  At least once in a while :)  I didn’t enjoy this so much because it was with white meat chicken but if it were dark meat, I guess I would like it but then, it would be a total different dish.

They serve brown rice and whole wheat spaghetti for an additional charge.
